| 摘 要： | 《儒林外史》这部经典巨著为我们构筑了一个阶层分明、等级壁垒森严的微型身份社会，而直接体现这种身份概念与身份意识的便是一套纷繁复杂的称呼语体系。本文结合社会学和语用学视角下的身份观，以吴敬梓《儒林外史》及杨宪益夫妇译本为语料，采用定性分析、线性对比的研究方法，分别从说话者进入交际前所具有的社会身份和特定交际阶段所构建的语用身份两个维度，阐释和分析会话中称呼语身份意识在原著及其译本中的实现。研究发现，尽管译者一直都在努力忠实原文，但仍然在无意识中改造了原文，这导致称呼语身份意识在汉英语际转换过程中发生了信息过载、缺失和变异等。文章认为，称呼语的翻译并不是纯粹的语言转换，译者在进行翻译时应该考虑源语一方诸多参数。

| Abstract: | The divisions we see in The Scholars are the very epitome of distinct class and rigid stratification occurring in Chinese identity society. The address forms in this book give true reflection of the identity concept in traditional China. Based on the sociological and pragmatic identity theories, this study aims to make a qualitative and comparative analysis on the identity concept of address forms between Chinese and English version of The Scholars from two aspects: one is the social identity assumed before communication and the other is the pragmatic identity built during communication. Research findings show that some unconscious change was made on the identity concept of address forms in the original, which actually the translators have been trying to stick to, such as overloaded translation, missing translation and variation translation. It is argued that a variety of source language factors should be taken into account during the translation of address forms. |
