In this note, we consider estimating the bivariate survival function when both survival times are subject to random left truncation and one of the survival times is subject to random right censoring. Motivated by Satten and Datta [2001. The Kaplan–Meier estimator as an inverse-probability-of-censoring weighted average. Amer. Statist. 55, 207–210], we propose an inverse-probability-weighted (IPW) estimator. It involves simultaneous estimation of the bivariate survival function of the truncation variables and that of the censoring variable and the truncation variable of the uncensored components. We prove that (i) when there is no censoring, the IPW estimator reduces to NPMLE of van der Laan [1996a. Nonparametric estimation of the bivariate survival function with truncated data. J. Multivariate Anal. 58, 107–131] and (ii) when there is random left truncation and right censoring on only one of the components and the other component is always observed, the IPW estimator reduces to the estimator of Gijbels and Gürler [1998. Covariance function of a bivariate distribution function estimator for left truncated and right censored data. Statist. Sin. 1219–1232]. Based on Theorem 3.1 of van der Laan [1996a. Nonparametric estimation of the bivariate survival function with truncated data. J. Multivariate Anal. 58, 107–131, 1996b. Efficient estimation of the bivariate censoring model and repairing NPMLE. Ann. Statist. 24, 596–627], we prove that the IPW estimator is consistent under certain conditions. Finally, we examine the finite sample performance of the IPW estimator in some simulation studies. For the special case that censoring time is independent of truncation time, a simulation study is conducted to compare the performances of the IPW estimator against that of the estimator proposed by van der Laan [1996a. Nonparametric estimation of the bivariate survival function with truncated data. J. Multivariate Anal. 58, 107–131, 1996b. Efficient estimation of the bivariate censoring model and repairing NPMLE. Ann. Statist. 24, 596–627]. For the special case (i), a simulation study is conducted to compare the performances of the IPW estimator against that of the estimator proposed by Huang et al. (2001. Nonnparametric estimation of marginal distributions under bivariate truncation with application to testing for age-of-onset application. Statist. Sin. 11, 1047–1068).  相似文献

In this paper we consider the estimation of the coefficient of tail dependence and of small tail probability under a bivariate randomly censoring mechanism. A new class of generalized moment estimators of the coefficient of tail dependence and the estimator of small tail probability are proposed, respectively. Under the bivariate Hall-type conditions, the asymptotic distributions of these estimators are established. Monte Carlo simulations are performed and the new estimators are applied to an insurance data-set.  相似文献

In this note, we consider estimating the bivariate survival function when both components are subject to left truncation and right censoring. We propose two types of estimators as generalizations of the Dabrowska and Campbell and Földes estimators. The consistency of the proposed estimators is established. A simple bootstrap method is used for obtaining precision estimation of the proposed estimators. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

We present a new estimator of the restricted mean survival time in randomized trials where there is right censoring that may depend on treatment and baseline variables. The proposed estimator leverages prognostic baseline variables to obtain equal or better asymptotic precision compared to traditional estimators. Under regularity conditions and random censoring within strata of treatment and baseline variables, the proposed estimator has the following features: (i) it is interpretable under violations of the proportional hazards assumption; (ii) it is consistent and at least as precise as the Kaplan–Meier and inverse probability weighted estimators, under identifiability conditions; (iii) it remains consistent under violations of independent censoring (unlike the Kaplan–Meier estimator) when either the censoring or survival distributions, conditional on covariates, are estimated consistently; and (iv) it achieves the nonparametric efficiency bound when both of these distributions are consistently estimated. We illustrate the performance of our method using simulations based on resampling data from a completed, phase 3 randomized clinical trial of a new surgical treatment for stroke; the proposed estimator achieves a 12% gain in relative efficiency compared to the Kaplan–Meier estimator. The proposed estimator has potential advantages over existing approaches for randomized trials with time-to-event outcomes, since existing methods either rely on model assumptions that are untenable in many applications, or lack some of the efficiency and consistency properties (i)–(iv). We focus on estimation of the restricted mean survival time, but our methods may be adapted to estimate any treatment effect measure defined as a smooth contrast between the survival curves for each study arm. We provide R code to implement the estimator.

Failure time data subject to three progressive Type-I multistage censoring schemes are studied. Product limit estimators are proposed for the estimation of the survival function. It is shown that the resulting estimators are asymptotically equivalent to the corresponding estimators where the data are subject to a random iid right censoring scheme. Many well-known results on confidence bands and tests for randomly right censored data hold for these progressive censoring schemes.  相似文献

A new nonparametric estimator is proposed for the copula function of a bivariate survival function for data subject to random right-censoring. We consider two censoring models: univariate and copula censoring. We show strong consistency and we obtain an i.i.d. representation for the copula estimator. In a simulation study we compare the new estimator to the one of Gribkova and Lopez [Nonparametric copula estimation under bivariate censoring; doi:10.1111/sjos.12144].  相似文献

Recently Sarhan and Balakrishnan [2007. A new class of bivariate distribution and its mixture. Journal of Multivariate Analysis 98, 1508–1527] introduced a new bivariate distribution using generalized exponential and exponential distributions. They discussed several interesting properties of this new distribution. Unfortunately, they did not discuss any estimation procedure of the unknown parameters. In this paper using the similar idea as of Sarhan and Balakrishnan [2007. A new class of bivariate distribution and its mixture. Journal of Multivariate Analysis 98, 1508–1527], we have proposed a singular bivariate distribution, which has an extra shape parameter. It is observed that the marginal distributions of the proposed bivariate distribution are more flexible than the corresponding marginal distributions of the Marshall–Olkin bivariate exponential distribution, Sarhan–Balakrishnan's bivariate distribution or the bivariate generalized exponential distribution. Different properties of this new distribution have been discussed. We provide the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters using EM algorithm. We reported some simulation results and performed two data analysis for illustrative purposes. Finally we propose some generalizations of this bivariate model.  相似文献

This paper establishes a nonparametric estimator for the treatment effect on censored bivariate data under unvariate censoring. This proposed estimator is based on the one from Lin and Ying(1993)'s nonparametric bivariate survival function estimator, which is itself a generalized version of Park and Park(1995)' quantile estimator. A Bahadur type representation of quantile functions were obtained from the marginal survival distribution estimator of Lin and Ying' model. The asymptotic property of this estimator is shown below and the simulation studies are also given  相似文献

In this article, we consider estimating the bivariate cause-specific distribution function when both components are subject to double censoring. We propose two types of estimators as generalizations of the Dabrowska and Campbell and Földes estimators. The asymptotical properties of the proposed estimators are established. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

The Kaplan–Meier estimator of a survival function requires that the censoring indicator is always observed. A method of survival function estimation is developed when the censoring indicators are missing completely at random (MCAR). The resulting estimator is a smooth functional of the Nelson–Aalen estimators of certain cumulative transition intensities. The asymptotic properties of this estimator are derived. A simulation study shows that the proposed estimator has greater efficiency than competing MCAR-based estimators. The approach is extended to the Cox model setting for the estimation of a conditional survival function given a covariate.  相似文献

In several studies, investigators are interested in estimating the bivariate distribution of the onset ages of a generic disorder in successive generations. The empirical distribution is inappropriate for this purpose due to truncation: only parent–child pairs with onset ages prior to the ages at interview were included in the sample. In this paper, we propose a simple nonparametric estimator for the underlying bivariate distribution of the onset ages. Compared with the existing estimators, the proposed estimator has a closed form and smaller biases when estimating marginal distributions. A real example is used to illustrate this estimator.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider non‐parametric copula inference under bivariate censoring. Based on an estimator of the joint cumulative distribution function, we define a discrete and two smooth estimators of the copula. The construction that we propose is valid for a large range of estimators of the distribution function and therefore for a large range of bivariate censoring frameworks. Under some conditions on the tails of the distributions, the weak convergence of the corresponding copula processes is obtained in l([0,1]2). We derive the uniform convergence rates of the copula density estimators deduced from our smooth copula estimators. Investigation of the practical behaviour of these estimators is performed through a simulation study and two real data applications, corresponding to different censoring settings. We use our non‐parametric estimators to define a goodness‐of‐fit procedure for parametric copula models. A new bootstrap scheme is proposed to compute the critical values.  相似文献

This paper proposes a class of nonparametric estimators for the bivariate survival function estimation under both random truncation and random censoring. In practice, the pair of random variables under consideration may have certain parametric relationship. The proposed class of nonparametric estimators uses such parametric information via a data transformation approach and thus provides more accurate estimates than existing methods without using such information. The large sample properties of the new class of estimators and a general guidance of how to find a good data transformation are given. The proposed method is also justified via a simulation study and an application on an economic data set.  相似文献

In this paper, we define the nonlinear wavelet estimator of density for the right censoring model with the censoring indicator missing at random (MAR), and develop its asymptotic expression for mean integrated squared error (MISE). Unlike for kernel estimator, the MISE expression of the estimator is not affected by the presence of discontinuities in the curve. Meanwhile, asymptotic normality of the estimator is established. The proposed estimator can reduce to the estimator defined by Li [Non-linear wavelet-based density estimators under random censorship. J Statist Plann Inference. 2003;117(1):35–58] when the censoring indicator MAR does not occur and a bandwidth in non-parametric estimation is close to zero. Also, we define another two nonlinear wavelet estimators of the density. A simulation is done to show the performance of the three proposed estimators.  相似文献

Epstein (1954) introduced the Type-I hybrid censoring scheme as a mixture of Type-I and Type-II censoring schemes. Childs et al. (2003) introduced the Type-II hybrid censoring scheme as an alternative to Type-I hybrid censoring scheme, and provided the exact distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator of the mean of a one-parameter exponential distribution based on Type-II hybrid censored samples. The associated confidence interval also has been provided. The main aim of this paper is to consider a two-parameter exponential distribution, and to derive the exact distribution of the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters based on Type-II hybrid censored samples. The marginal distributions and the exact confidence intervals are also provided. The results can be used to derive the exact distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator of the percentile point, and to construct the associated confidence interval. Different methods are compared using extensive simulations and one data analysis has been performed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Copula models describe the dependence structure of two random variables separately from their marginal distributions and hence are particularly useful in studying the association for bivariate survival data. Semiparametric inference for bivariate survival data based on copula models has been studied for various types of data, including complete data, right-censored data, and current status data. This article discusses the boundary effect on these inference procedures, a problem that has been neglected in the previous literature. Specifically, asymptotic distribution of the association estimator on the boundary of parameter space is derived for one-dimensional copula models. The boundary properties are applied to test independence and to study the estimation efficiency. Simulation study is conducted for the bivariate right-censored data and current status data.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new estimator for bivariate distribution functions under random truncation and random censoring. The new method is based on a polar coordinate transformation, which enables us to transform a bivariate survival function to a univariate survival function. A consistent estimator for the transformed univariate function is proposed. Then the univariate estimator is transformed back to a bivariate estimator. The estimator converges weakly to a zero-mean Gaussian process with an easily estimated covariance function. Consistent truncation probability estimate is also provided. Numerical studies show that the distribution estimator and truncation probability estimator perform remarkably well.  相似文献

In survival analysis, the classical Koziol-Green random censorship model is commonly used to describe informative censoring. Hereby, it is assumed that the distribution of the censoring time is a power of the distribution of the survival time. In this article, we extend this model by assuming a general function between these distributions. We determine this function from a relationship between the observable random variables which is described by a copula family that depends on an unknown parameter θ. For this setting, we develop a semi-parametric estimator for the distribution of the survival time in which we propose a pseudo-likelihood estimator for the copula parameter θ. As results, we show first the consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimator for θ. Afterwards, we prove the weak convergence of the process associated to the semi-parametric distribution estimator. Furthermore, we investigate the finite sample performance of these estimators through a simulation study and finally apply it to a practical data set on survival with malignant melanoma.  相似文献

We introduce an absolutely continuous bivariate generalization of the Topp–Leone distribution, which is a special member of the proportional reversed hazard family using a one-parameter bivariate exchangeable distribution. We show that a copula approach could also be used in defining the bivariate Topp–Leone distribution. The marginal distributions of the new bivariate distribution have also Topp–Leone distributions. We study its distributional and dependence properties. We estimate the parameters by maximum-likelihood procedure, perform a simulation study on the estimators, and apply them to a real data set. Furthermore, we give a way of generating bivariate distributions using the proposed distribution.  相似文献

The hazard function plays an important role in reliability or survival studies since it describes the instantaneous risk of failure of items at a time point, given that they have not failed before. In some real life applications, abrupt changes in the hazard function are observed due to overhauls, major operations or specific maintenance activities. In such situations it is of interest to detect the location where such a change occurs and estimate the size of the change. In this paper we consider the problem of estimating a single change point in a piecewise constant hazard function when the observed variables are subject to random censoring. We suggest an estimation procedure that is based on certain structural properties and on least squares ideas. A simulation study is carried out to compare the performance of this estimator with two estimators available in the literature: an estimator based on a functional of the Nelson-Aalen estimator and a maximum likelihood estimator. The proposed least squares estimator tums out to be less biased than the other two estimators, but has a larger variance. We illustrate the estimation method on some real data sets.  相似文献
