The quantile residual lifetime function provides comprehensive quantitative measures for residual life, especially when the distribution of the latter is skewed or heavy‐tailed and/or when the data contain outliers. In this paper, we propose a general class of semiparametric quantile residual life models for length‐biased right‐censored data. We use the inverse probability weighted method to correct the bias due to length‐biased sampling and informative censoring. Two estimating equations corresponding to the quantile regressions are constructed in two separate steps to obtain an efficient estimator. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimator are established. The main difficulty in implementing our proposed method is that the estimating equations associated with the quantiles are nondifferentiable, and we apply the majorize–minimize algorithm and estimate the asymptotic covariance using an efficient resampling method. We use simulation studies to evaluate the proposed method and illustrate its application by a real‐data example.  相似文献

We consider the problem of estimating the quantiles of a distribution function in a fixed design regression model in which the observations are subject to random right censoring. The quantile estimator is defined via a conditional Kaplan-Meier type estimator for the distribution at a given design point. We establish an a.s. asymptotic representation for this quantile estimator, from which we obtain its asymptotic normality. Because a complicated estimation procedure is necessary for estimating the asymptotic bias and variance, we use a resampling procedure, which provides us, via an asymptotic representation for the bootstrapped estimator, with an alternative for the normal approximation.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a power-transformed linear quantile regression model for the residual lifetime of competing risks data. The proposed model can describe the association between any quantile of a time-to-event distribution among survivors beyond a specific time point and the covariates. Under covariate-dependent censoring, we develop an estimation procedure with two steps, including an unbiased monotone estimating equation for regression parameters and cumulative sum processes for the Box–Cox transformation parameter. The asymptotic properties of the estimators are also derived. We employ an efficient bootstrap method for the estimation of the variance–covariance matrix. The finite-sample performance of the proposed approaches are evaluated through simulation studies and a real example.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a smooth nonparametric estimator of mean residual life based on a randomly censored sample. Large sample properties of the proposed estimator are examined. Also we study the asymptotic relative efficiency for different members in the family of test statistics, proposed by Lim and Park(1998), for testing whether or not the mean residual life changes its trend, and we discuss the efficiency values of loss due to censoring. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to illustrate the performance of our estimation and investigate the performance of test statistics by the power of tests.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to present a nonparametric Bayesian procedure for estimating a survival curve in a double censoring situation. Assuming a proportional hazard rates model, we propose a consistent estimation of lifetime, based on a Dirichlet process prior knowledge on the observable random vector. Some large sample properties of this estimator are also derived, We prove strong consistency and asymptotic weak convergence to a Gaussian pro cess. Finally, a simulation study is presented in order to analyze the behavior of the proposed estimator, and establish some comparisons to other estimators.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

When analyzing time-to-event data, there are various situations in which right censoring times for unfailed units are missing. In that context, by taking a supplementary sample of a convenient percentage of unfailed units, we propose a semi-parametric method for estimating a survival function under the natural extension of the Koziol–Green model to double random censoring. Some large sample properties of this estimator are derived. We prove uniform strong consistency and asymptotic weak convergence to a Gaussian process. A simulation study is also presented in order to analyze the behavior of the proposed estimator.  相似文献

This article introduces a novel non parametric penalized likelihood hazard estimation when the censoring time is dependent on the failure time for each subject under observation. More specifically, we model this dependence using a copula, and the method of maximum penalized likelihood (MPL) is adopted to estimate the hazard function. We do not consider covariates in this article. The non negatively constrained MPL hazard estimation is obtained using a multiplicative iterative algorithm. The consistency results and the asymptotic properties of the proposed hazard estimator are derived. The simulation studies show that our MPL estimator under dependent censoring with an assumed copula model provides a better accuracy than the MPL estimator under independent censoring if the sign of dependence is correctly specified in the copula function. The proposed method is applied to a real dataset, with a sensitivity analysis performed over various values of correlation between failure and censoring times.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the quantile regression analysis for semi-competing risks data in which a non-terminal event may be dependently censored by a terminal event. Due to the dependent censoring, the estimation of quantile regression coefficients on the non-terminal event becomes difficult. In order to handle this problem, we assume Archimedean Copula to specify the dependence of the non-terminal event and the terminal event. Portnoy [Censored regression quantiles. J Amer Statist Assoc. 2003;98:1001–1012] considered the quantile regression model under right-censoring data. We extend his approach to construct a weight function, and then impose the weight function to estimate the quantile regression parameter for the non-terminal event under semi-competing risks data. We also prove the consistency and asymptotic properties for the proposed estimator. According to the simulation studies, the performance of our proposed method is good. We also apply our suggested approach to analyse a real data.  相似文献

Abstract

In survival or reliability studies, it is common to have data which are not only incomplete but weakly dependent too. Random truncation and censoring are two common forms of such data when they are neither independent nor strongly mixing but rather associated. The focus of this paper is on estimating conditional distribution and conditional quantile functions for randomly left truncated data satisfying association condition. We aim at deriving strong uniform consistency rates and asymptotic normality for the estimators and thereby, extend to association case some results stated under iid and α-mixing hypotheses. The performance of the quantile function estimator is evaluated on simulated data sets.  相似文献

We propose a semiparametric estimator for single‐index models with censored responses due to detection limits. In the presence of left censoring, the mean function cannot be identified without any parametric distributional assumptions, but the quantile function is still identifiable at upper quantile levels. To avoid parametric distributional assumption, we propose to fit censored quantile regression and combine information across quantile levels to estimate the unknown smooth link function and the index parameter. Under some regularity conditions, we show that the estimated link function achieves the non‐parametric optimal convergence rate, and the estimated index parameter is asymptotically normal. The simulation study shows that the proposed estimator is competitive with the omniscient least squares estimator based on the latent uncensored responses for data with normal errors but much more efficient for heavy‐tailed data under light and moderate censoring. The practical value of the proposed method is demonstrated through the analysis of a human immunodeficiency virus antibody data set.  相似文献

This paper establishes a nonparametric estimator for the treatment effect on censored bivariate data under unvariate censoring. This proposed estimator is based on the one from Lin and Ying(1993)'s nonparametric bivariate survival function estimator, which is itself a generalized version of Park and Park(1995)' quantile estimator. A Bahadur type representation of quantile functions were obtained from the marginal survival distribution estimator of Lin and Ying' model. The asymptotic property of this estimator is shown below and the simulation studies are also given  相似文献

Abstract.  Recurrent event data are largely characterized by the rate function but smoothing techniques for estimating the rate function have never been rigorously developed or studied in statistical literature. This paper considers the moment and least squares methods for estimating the rate function from recurrent event data. With an independent censoring assumption on the recurrent event process, we study statistical properties of the proposed estimators and propose bootstrap procedures for the bandwidth selection and for the approximation of confidence intervals in the estimation of the occurrence rate function. It is identified that the moment method without resmoothing via a smaller bandwidth will produce a curve with nicks occurring at the censoring times, whereas there is no such problem with the least squares method. Furthermore, the asymptotic variance of the least squares estimator is shown to be smaller under regularity conditions. However, in the implementation of the bootstrap procedures, the moment method is computationally more efficient than the least squares method because the former approach uses condensed bootstrap data. The performance of the proposed procedures is studied through Monte Carlo simulations and an epidemiological example on intravenous drug users.  相似文献

Median regression models provide a robust alternative to regression based on the mean. We propose a methodology for fitting a median regression model from data with both left and right censored observations, in which the left censoring variable is always observed. First we set up an adjusted least absolute deviation estimating function using the inverse censoring weighted approach, whose solution specifies the estimator. We derive the consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator and describe the inference procedure for the regression parameter. Finally, we check the finite sample performance of the proposed procedure through simulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating an extreme quantile of a Weibull tail-distribution. The new extreme quantile estimator has a reduced bias compared to the more classical ones proposed in the literature. It is based on an exponential regression model that was introduced in Diebolt et al. [2007. Bias-reduced estimators of the Weibull-tail coefficient. Test, to appear]. The asymptotic normality of the extreme quantile estimator is established. We also introduce an adaptive selection procedure to determine the number of upper order statistics to be used. A simulation study as well as an application to a real data set is provided in order to prove the efficiency of the above-mentioned methods.  相似文献

In this paper we study a smooth estimator of the regression quantile function in the censorship model when the covariates take values in some abstract function space. The main goal of this paper is to establish the asymptotic normality of the kernel estimator of the regression quantile, under α-mixing condition and, on the concentration properties on small balls probability measure of the functional regressors. Some applications and particular cases are studied. This study can be applied in time series analysis to the prediction and building confidence bands. Some simulations are drawn to lend further support to our theoretical results and to compare the quality of behavior of the estimator for finite samples with different rates of censoring and sizes.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a non-parametric quantile inference procedure for cause-specific failure probabilities to estimate the lifetime distribution of length-biased and right-censored data with competing risks. We also derive the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators of the quantile function. Furthermore, the results are used to construct confidence intervals and bands for the quantile function. Simulation studies are conducted to illustrate the method and theory, and an application to an unemployment data is presented.  相似文献

Quantile-based reliability analysis has received much attention recently. We propose new quantile-based tests for exponentiality against decreasing mean residual quantile function (DMRQ) and new better than used in expectation (NBUE) classes of alternatives. The exact null distribution of the test statistic is derived when the alternative class is DMRQ. The asymptotic properties of both the test statistics are studied. The performance of the proposed tests with other existing tests in the literature is evaluated through simulation study. Finally, we illustrate our test procedure using real data sets.  相似文献

High quantile estimation is of importance in risk management. For a heavy-tailed distribution, estimating a high quantile is done via estimating the tail index. Reducing the bias in a tail index estimator can be achieved by using either the same order or a larger order of number of the upper order statistics in comparison with the theoretical optimal one in the classical tail index estimator. For the second approach, one can either estimate all parameters simultaneously or estimate the first and second order parameters separately. Recently, the first method and the second method via external estimators for the second order parameter have been applied to reduce the bias in high quantile estimation. Theoretically, the second method obviously gives rise to a smaller order of asymptotic mean squared error than the first one. In this paper we study the second method with simultaneous estimation of all parameters for reducing bias in high quantile estimation.  相似文献

We consider a random effects quantile regression analysis of clustered data and propose a semiparametric approach using empirical likelihood. The random regression coefficients are assumed independent with a common mean, following parametrically specified distributions. The common mean corresponds to the population-average effects of explanatory variables on the conditional quantile of interest, while the random coefficients represent cluster specific deviations in the covariate effects. We formulate the estimation of the random coefficients as an estimating equations problem and use empirical likelihood to incorporate the parametric likelihood of the random coefficients. A likelihood-like statistical criterion function is yield, which we show is asymptotically concave in a neighborhood of the true parameter value and motivates its maximizer as a natural estimator. We use Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) samplers in the Bayesian framework, and propose the resulting quasi-posterior mean as an estimator. We show that the proposed estimator of the population-level parameter is asymptotically normal and the estimators of the random coefficients are shrunk toward the population-level parameter in the first order asymptotic sense. These asymptotic results do not require Gaussian random effects, and the empirical likelihood based likelihood-like criterion function is free of parameters related to the error densities. This makes the proposed approach both flexible and computationally simple. We illustrate the methodology with two real data examples.  相似文献

Middle censoring refers to data that becomes unobservable if it falls within a random interval. The lifetime distribution of such data is defined via the self-consistency equation. We propose an approximation to this distribution function for which an estimator and its asymptotic properties are very easy to establish.  相似文献
