In this article, the varying-coefficient single-index model (VCSIM) is discussed based on penalized spline estimation method. All the coefficient functions are fitted by P-spline and all parameters in P-spline varying-coefficient model can be estimated simultaneously by penalized nonlinear least squares. The detailed algorithm is given, including choosing smoothing parameters and knots. The approach is rapid and computationally stable. √n consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimators of all the parameters are showed. Both simulated and real data examples are given to illustrate the proposed estimation methodology.  相似文献

Estimation of the single-index model with a discontinuous unknown link function is considered in this paper. Existed refined minimum average variance estimation (rMAVE) method can estimate the single-index parameter and unknown link function simultaneously by minimising the average pointwise conditional variance, where the conditional variance can be estimated using the local linear fit method with centred kernel function. When there are jumps in the link function, big biases around jumps can appear. For this reason, we embed the jump-preserving technique in the rMAVE method, then propose an adaptive jump-preserving estimation procedure for the single-index model. Concretely speaking, the conditional variance is obtained by the one among local linear fits with centred, left-sided and right-sided kernel functions who has minimum weighted residual mean squares. The resulting estimators can preserve the jumps well and also give smooth estimates of the continuity parts. Asymptotic properties are established under some mild conditions. Simulations and real data analysis show the proposed method works well.  相似文献

In this paper, the generalized varying-coefficient single-index model is discussed based on penalized likelihood. All the unknown functions are fitted by penalized spline. The estimates of the unknown parameters and the unknown coefficient functions are obtained and the estimation approach is rapid and computationally stable. Under some mild conditions, the consistency and the asymptotic normality of these resulting estimators are given. Two simulation studies are carried out to illustrate the performance of the estimates. An application of the model to the Hong Kong environmental data further demonstrates the potential of the proposed modelling procedures.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The varying-coefficient single-index model (VCSIM) is a very general and flexible tool for exploring the relationship between a response variable and a set of predictors. Popular special cases include single-index models and varying-coefficient models. In order to estimate the index-coefficient and the non parametric varying-coefficients in the VCSIM, we propose a two-stage composite quantile regression estimation procedure, which integrates the local linear smoothing method and the information of quantile regressions at a number of conditional quantiles of the response variable. We establish the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators for the index-coefficient and varying-coefficients when the error is heterogeneous. When compared with the existing mean-regression-based estimation method, our simulation results indicate that our proposed method has comparable performance for normal error and is more robust for error with outliers or heavy tail. We illustrate our methodologies with a real example.  相似文献

In this article, a new efficient iteration procedure based on quantile regression is developed for single-index varying-coefficient models. The proposed estimation scheme is an extension of the full iteration procedure proposed by Carroll et al., which is different with the method adopted by Wu et al. for single-index models that a double-weighted summation is used therein. This distinguish not only be the reason that undersmoothing should be a necessary condition in our proposed procedure, but also may reduce the computational burden especially for large-sample size. The resulting estimators are shown to be robust with regardless of outliers as well as varying errors. Moreover, to achieve sparsity when there exist irrelevant variables in the index parameters, a variable selection procedure combined with adaptive LASSO penalty is developed to simultaneously select and estimate significant parameters. Theoretical properties of the obtained estimators are established under some regular conditions, and some simulation studies with various distributed errors are conducted to assess the finite sample performance of our proposed method.  相似文献

In this article, we present a new efficient iteration estimation approach based on local modal regression for single-index varying-coefficient models. The resulted estimators are shown to be robust with regardless of outliers and error distributions. The asymptotic properties of the estimators are established under some regularity conditions and a practical modified EM algorithm is proposed for the new method. Moreover, to achieve sparse estimator when there exists irrelevant variables in the index parameters, a variable selection procedure based on SCAD penalty is developed to select significant parametric covariates and the well-known oracle properties are also derived. Finally, some numerical examples with various distributed errors and a real data analysis are conducted to illustrate the validity and feasibility of our proposed method.  相似文献

We study partial linear single-index models (PLSiMs) when the response and the covariates in the parametric part are measured with additive distortion measurement errors. These distortions are modeled by unknown functions of a commonly observable confounding variable. We use the semiparametric profile least-squares method to estimate the parameters in the PLSiMs based on the residuals obtained from the distorted variables and confounding variable. We also employ the smoothly clipped absolute deviation penalty (SCAD) to select the relevant variables in the PLSiMs. We show that the resulting SCAD estimators are consistent and possess the oracle property. For the non parametric link function, we construct the simultaneous confidence bands and obtain the asymptotic distribution of the maximum absolute deviation between the estimated link function and the true link function. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methods and a real dataset is analyzed for illustration.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we propose a new efficient and robust penalized estimating procedure for varying-coefficient single-index models based on modal regression and basis function approximations. The proposed procedure simultaneously solves two types of problems: separation of varying and constant effects and selection of variables with non zero coefficients for both non parametric and index components using three smoothly clipped absolute deviation (SCAD) penalties. With appropriate selection of the tuning parameters, the new method possesses the consistency in variable selection and the separation of varying and constant coefficients. In addition, the estimators of varying coefficients possess the optimal convergence rate and the estimators of constant coefficients and index parameters have the oracle property. Finally, we investigate the finite sample performance of the proposed method through a simulation study and real data analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a partially linear single-index additive hazards model with current status data. Both the unknown link function of the single-index term and the cumulative baseline hazard function are approximated by B-splines under a monotonicity constraint on the latter. The sieve method is applied to estimate the nonparametric and parametric components simultaneously. We show that, when the nonparametric link function is an exact B-spline, the resultant estimator of regression parameter vector is asymptotically normal and achieves the semiparametric information bound and the rate of convergence of the estimator for the cumulative baseline hazard function is optimal. Simulation studies are presented to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed estimation method. For illustration, we apply the method to a clinical dataset with current status outcome.  相似文献

This paper proposes a varying-coefficient single-index measurement error model, which consists of measurement error in the index covariates. We combine the simulation-extrapolation technique, the local linear regression and the weighted least-squares method to estimate the unknowns of the current model, and develop the asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators under some conditions. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the proposed methodology, and a real example is also studied to illustrate our given methodology.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with an estimation procedure of a class of single-index varying-coefficient models with right-censored data. An adjusted empirical log-likelihood ratio for the index parameters, which are of primary interest, is proposed using a synthetic data approach. The adjusted empirical likelihood is shown to have a standard chi-squared limiting distribution. Furthermore, we increase the accuracy of the proposed confidence regions by using the constraint that the index is of norm 1. Simulation studies are carried out to highlight the performance of the proposed method compared with the traditional normal approximation method.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a generalized linear partially varying-coefficient model for longitudinal data analysis. A local quasi-likelihood method is proposed to estimate the constant-coefficient and varying-coefficient functions simultaneously based on the local polynomial kernel regression. The corresponding standard error estimates are derived. Large sample properties are investigated. The proposed methodologies are demonstrated by extensive simulation studies and a real example.  相似文献

This paper develops a varying-coefficient approach to the estimation and testing of regression quantiles under randomly truncated data. In order to handle the truncated data, the random weights are introduced and the weighted quantile regression (WQR) estimators for nonparametric functions are proposed. To achieve nice efficiency properties, we further develop a weighted composite quantile regression (WCQR) estimation method for nonparametric functions in varying-coefficient models. The asymptotic properties both for the proposed WQR and WCQR estimators are established. In addition, we propose a novel bootstrap-based test procedure to test whether the nonparametric functions in varying-coefficient quantile models can be specified by some function forms. The performance of the proposed estimators and test procedure are investigated through simulation studies and a real data example.  相似文献

Summary. We propose a class of semiparametric functional regression models to describe the influence of vector-valued covariates on a sample of response curves. Each observed curve is viewed as the realization of a random process, composed of an overall mean function and random components. The finite dimensional covariates influence the random components of the eigenfunction expansion through single-index models that include unknown smooth link and variance functions. The parametric components of the single-index models are estimated via quasi-score estimating equations with link and variance functions being estimated nonparametrically. We obtain several basic asymptotic results. The functional regression models proposed are illustrated with the analysis of a data set consisting of egg laying curves for 1000 female Mediterranean fruit-flies (medflies).  相似文献

In this article, the partially linear single-index models are discussed based on smoothing spline and average derivative estimation method. This proposed technique consists of two stages: one is to estimate the vector parameter in the linear part using the smoothing cubic spline method, simultaneously, obtaining the estimator of unknown single-index function; the other is to estimate the single-index coefficients in the single-index part by the using average derivative estimator procedure. Some simulated and real examples are presented to illustrate the performance of this method.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the choice of pilot estimators for the single-index varying-coefficient model, which may result in radically different estimators, and develop the method for estimating the unknown parameter in this model. To estimate the unknown parameters efficiently, we use the outer product of gradient method to find the consistent initial estimators for interest parameters, and then adopt the refined estimation method to improve the efficiency, which is similar to the refined minimum average variance estimation method. An algorithm is proposed to estimate the model directly. Asymptotic properties for the proposed estimation procedure have been established. The bandwidth selection problem is also considered. Simulation studies are carried out to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed estimators, and efficiency comparisons between the estimation methods are made.  相似文献

In this article, we generalize the partially linear single-index models to the scenario with some endogenous covariates variables. It is well known that the estimators based on the existing methods are often inconsistent because of the endogeneity of covariates. To deal with the endogenous variables, we introduce some auxiliary instrumental variables. A three-stage estimation procedure is proposed for partially linear single-index instrumental variables models. The first stage is to obtain a linear projection of endogenous variables on a set of instrumental variables, the second stage is to estimate the link function by using local linear smoother for given constant parameters, and the last stage is to obtain the estimators of constant parameters based on the estimating equation. Asymptotic normality is established for the proposed estimators. Some simulation studies are undertaken to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed estimation procedure.  相似文献

The authors give the estimation on the varying-coefficient partially linear regression model with different smoothing variables. The efficient estimators of the intercept function and the coefficient functions are obtained by a one-step back-fitting technique based on their initial estimators given by local linear technique and the averaged method. Furthermore, their asymptotic normalities are given. Some simulation studies are used to illustrate the performances of the estimation.  相似文献

We consider a semiparametric method based on partial splines for estimating the unknown function and partially linear regression parameters in partially linear single-index models. Three methods—project pursuit regression (PPR), average derivative estimation (ADE), and a boosting method—are considered for estimating the single-index parameters. Simulations revealed that PPR with partial splines was superior in estimating single-index parameters, while the boosting method with partial splines performed no better than PPR and ADE. All three methods performed similarly in estimating the partially linear regression parameters. The relative performances of the methods are also illustrated using a real-world data example.  相似文献

In this article we present a robust and efficient variable selection procedure by using modal regression for varying-coefficient models with longitudinal data. The new method is proposed based on basis function approximations and a group version of the adaptive LASSO penalty, which can select significant variables and estimate the non-zero smooth coefficient functions simultaneously. Under suitable conditions, we establish the consistency in variable selection and the oracle property in estimation. A simulation study and two real data examples are undertaken to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed variable selection procedure.  相似文献
