THE advance of Chinese history and the development of the film industry have brought out a new generation of movie stars. Among them Gong Li is the most charming and most well known in the world. Gong Li was born in 1963, the youngest of five children in a family of intellectuals. Both her parents teach at a university. She liked to sing and dance since childhood and early on displayed

The Continent, a nostalgia-filled, road- trip movie, hit the screens in Mainland China at the end of July. Han Hart, 31, best known as a blogger, novelist and professional racer, directed the film. The movie is about three young men, who set off on a trip from an island in eastern China for the remote west of the country. Along the way, they encounter love interests and, of course, trouble.

The symposium was held in Nanchang, capital of East China＇s Jiangxi Province.

The Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council and Plan International （China） on August 13 launched, in Shaoyang, in Central China＇s Hunan Province, the training course on the project of happy homcs for children. The project is being undertaken in Hunan, Guizhou （in Southwest China） and Gansu （in Northwest China） provinces.     

《北京爱情故事》

Beijing Love Story is a spin-off of the massively popular 2012 Chinese TV series of the same title. The film presents a complex series of intertwined love stories in China＇s capital. Chert Sicheng, who wrote and directed the fihn （and directed the TV series）, also costars in the film with his wife, Tong Liya. （They married in January.）

The seminar on improving the system used to care for rural left- behind children was held in January 2014 by the Department for Children, under the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）. in Nanchong, a city in South China＇s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Various experts and the presidents and directors-general of the departments for children under the wonlen＇s federations of 14 provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities attended.

At the national work meeting on children and women held from October 9 to 10, Premier Zhu Rongji called upon governments at all levels to safeguard legitimate rights for women and children and clear obstacles that impair women and children from advancing. He asked for further improvement of education for women and children, enhancement of women's participation in politics and social affairs and promotion of work concerned with women and children in the Western region.

Special Services on Trains
During the 2014 Spring Festival travel season （from January 16 to February 24）, Qingdao passenger service branch of Jinan Railway Administration, in East China＇s Shandong Province, provided flee childdelivery service on trains traveling from Qingdao to seven cities. Parents who could not accompany their children, who were between 7-13 years old, could reserve the child-delivery service （five days in advance） and sign an agreement with the service branch. Conductors on the trains would take care of the children and present the children to the people who were designated to pick them up at the destination.
