In this paper, we establish the asymptotic properties of maximum quasi-likelihood estimator (MQLE) in quasi-likelihood non linear models (QLNMs) with stochastic regression under some mild regular conditions. This article proposes a semiparametric nonlinear reproductive dispersion model (SNRDM) which is an extension of nonlinear reproductive dispersion model and semiparametric regression model. Maximum penalized likelihood estimators (MPLEs) of unknown parameters and nonparametric functions in SNRDMs are presented. Some novel diagnostic statistics such as Cook distance and difference deviance for parametric and nonparametric parts are developed to identify influence observations in SNRDMs on the basis of case-deletion method, and some formulae readily computed with the MPLEs algorithm for diagnostic measures are given. The equivalency of case-deletion models and mean-shift outlier models in SNRDM is investigated. A simulation study and a real example are used to illustrate the proposed diagnostic measures.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new semiparametric heteroscedastic regression model allowing for positive and negative skewness and bimodal shapes using the B-spline basis for nonlinear effects. The proposed distribution is based on the generalized additive models for location, scale and shape framework in order to model any or all parameters of the distribution using parametric linear and/or nonparametric smooth functions of explanatory variables. We motivate the new model by means of Monte Carlo simulations, thus ignoring the skewness and bimodality of the random errors in semiparametric regression models, which may introduce biases on the parameter estimates and/or on the estimation of the associated variability measures. An iterative estimation process and some diagnostic methods are investigated. Applications to two real data sets are presented and the method is compared to the usual regression methods.  相似文献

In this article, we propose two novel diagnostic measures for the deletion of influential observations for regression parameters in the setting of generalized linear models. The proposed diagnostic methods are capable for detecting the influential observations under model misspecification, as long as the true underlying distributions have finite second moments.More specifically, it is demonstrated that the Poisson likelihood function can be properly adjusted to become asymptotically valid for practically all underlying discrete distributions. The adjusted Poisson regression model that achieves the robustness property is presented. Simulation studies and an illustration are performed to demonstrate the efficacy of the two novel diagnostic procedures.  相似文献

This paper concerns the geometric treatment of graphical models using Bayes linear methods. We introduce Bayes linear separation as a second order generalised conditional independence relation, and Bayes linear graphical models are constructed using this property. A system of interpretive and diagnostic shadings are given, which summarise the analysis over the associated moral graph. Principles of local computation are outlined for the graphical models, and an algorithm for implementing such computation over the junction tree is described. The approach is illustrated with two examples. The first concerns sales forecasting using a multivariate dynamic linear model. The second concerns inference for the error variance matrices of the model for sales, and illustrates the generality of our geometric approach by treating the matrices directly as random objects. The examples are implemented using a freely available set of object-oriented programming tools for Bayes linear local computation and graphical diagnostic display.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop diagnostic methods for generalized Poisson regression (GPR) models with errors in variables based on the corrected likelihood. The one-step approximations of the estimates in the case-deletion model are given and case-deletion and local influence measures are presented. Meanwhile, based on a corrected score function, the testing statistics for the significance of dispersion parameters in GPR models with measurement errors are investigated. The literature on multivariate stochastic volatility (MSV) models has developed significantly over the last few years. This paper reviews the substantial literature on specification, estimation, and evaluation of MSV models. A wide range of MSV models is presented according to various categories, namely, (i) asymmetric models, (ii) factor models, (iii) time-varying correlation models, and (iv) alternative MSV specifications, including models based on the matrix exponential transformation, the Cholesky decomposition, and the Wishart autoregressive process. Alternative methods of estimation, including quasi-maximum likelihood, simulated maximum likelihood, and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods, are discussed and compared. Bayesian analyses frequently employ two-stage hierarchical models involving two-variance parameters: one controlling measurement error and the other controlling the degree of smoothing implied by the model's higher level. These analyses can be hampered by poorly identified variances which may lead to difficulty in computing and in choosing reference priors for these parameters. In this paper, we introduce the class of two-variance hierarchical linear models and characterize the aspects of these models that lead to well-identified or poorly identified variances. These ideas are illustrated with a spatial analysis of a periodontal data set and examined in some generality for specific two-variance models including the conditionally autoregressive (CAR) and one-way random effect models. We also connect this theory with other constrained regression methods and suggest a diagnostic that can be used to search for missing spatially varying fixed effects in the CAR model.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A general class of models for discrete and/or continuous responses is proposed in which joint distributions are constructed via the conditional approach. It is assumed that the distributions of one response and of the other response given the first one belong to exponential family of distributions. Furthermore, the marginal means are related to the covariates by link functions and a dependency structure between the responses is inserted into the model. Estimation methods, diagnostic analysis and a simulation study considering a Bernoulli-exponential model, a particular case of the class, are presented. The Weibull proportional hazards model is commonly used for analysing survival data. However, formal tests of model adequacy are still lacking. It is well known that residual-based goodness-of-fit measures are inappropriate for censored data. In this paper, a graphical diagnostic plot of Cox–Snell residuals with a simulated envelope added is proposed to assess the adequacy of Weibull survival models. Both single component and two-component mixture models with random effects are considered for recurrent failure time data. The effectiveness of the diagnostic method is illustrated using simulated data sets and data on recurrent urinary tract infections of elderly women.  相似文献

To assess the influence of single observations on the parameter estimates, case-deletion diagnostics are commonly used in linear regression models; one example is Cook's distance. For nested parametric models we consider a deletion diagnostic for evaluating the influence of a single observation on the likelihood ratio (LR) test. In order to have a common scale as reference, the asymptotic distribution of the diagnostic is derived and the values of the diagnostic are converted to percentiles. We focus on linear models and general linear models, and in these cases explicit results are derived. The performance of the diagnostic is explored in two small bench mark examples from linear regression and in a larger linear mixed model example.  相似文献

Summary.  We define residuals for point process models fitted to spatial point pattern data, and we propose diagnostic plots based on them. The residuals apply to any point process model that has a conditional intensity; the model may exhibit spatial heterogeneity, interpoint interaction and dependence on spatial covariates. Some existing ad hoc methods for model checking (quadrat counts, scan statistic, kernel smoothed intensity and Berman's diagnostic) are recovered as special cases. Diagnostic tools are developed systematically, by using an analogy between our spatial residuals and the usual residuals for (non-spatial) generalized linear models. The conditional intensity λ plays the role of the mean response. This makes it possible to adapt existing knowledge about model validation for generalized linear models to the spatial point process context, giving recommendations for diagnostic plots. A plot of smoothed residuals against spatial location, or against a spatial covariate, is effective in diagnosing spatial trend or co-variate effects. Q – Q -plots of the residuals are effective in diagnosing interpoint interaction.  相似文献

A class of semiparametric regression models, called probabilistic index models, has been recently proposed. Because these models are semiparametric, inference is only valid when the proposed model is consistent with the underlying data-generating model. However, no formal goodness-of-fit methods for these probabilistic index models exist yet. We propose a test and a graphical tool for assessing the model adequacy. Simulation results indicate that both methods succeed in detecting lack-of-fit. The methods are also illustrated on a case study.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a beta regression model with multiplicative log-normal measurement errors. Three estimation methods are presented, namely, naive, calibration regression, and pseudo likelihood. The nuisance parameters are estimated from a system of estimation equations using replicated data and these estimates are used to propose a pseudo likelihood function. A simulation study was performed to assess some properties of the proposed methods. Results from an example with a real dataset, including diagnostic tools, are also reported.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to discuss the application of nonlinear models to price decisions in the framework of rating-based product preference models. As revealed by a comparative simulation study, when a nonlinear model is the true model, the traditional linear model fails to properly describe the true pattern. It appears to be unsatisfactory in comparison with nonlinear models, such as logistic and natural spline, which offer some advantages, the most important being the ability to take into account more than just linear and/or monotonic effects. Consequently, when we model the product preference with a nonlinear model, we are potentially able to detect its ‘best’ price level, i.e., the price at which consumer preference towards a given attribute is at its maximum. From an application point of view, this approach is very flexible in price decisions and may produce original managerial suggestions which might not be revealed by traditional methods.  相似文献

This paper develops a space‐time statistical model for local forecasting of surface‐level wind fields in a coastal region with complex topography. The statistical model makes use of output from deterministic numerical weather prediction models which are able to produce forecasts of surface wind fields on a spatial grid. When predicting surface winds at observing stations , errors can arise due to sub‐grid scale processes not adequately captured by the numerical weather prediction model , and the statistical model attempts to correct for these influences. In particular , it uses information from observing stations within the study region as well as topographic information to account for local bias. Bayesian methods for inference are used in the model , with computations carried out using Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms. Empirical performance of the model is described , illustrating that a structured Bayesian approach to complicated space‐time models of the type considered in this paper can be readily implemented and can lead to improvements in forecasting over traditional methods.  相似文献

We show that smoothing spline, intrinsic autoregression (IAR) and state-space model can be formulated as partially specified random-effect model with singular precision (SP). Various fitting methods have been suggested for the aforementioned models and this paper investigates the relationships among them, once the models have been placed under a single framework. Some methods have been previously shown to give the best linear unbiased predictors (BLUPs) under some random-effect models and here we show that they are in fact uniformly BLUPs (UBLUPs) under a class of models that are generated by the SP of random effects. We offer some new interpretations of the UBLUPs under models of SP and define BLUE and BLUP in these partially specified models without having to specify the covariance. We also show how the full likelihood inferences for random-effect models can be made for these models, so that the maximum likelihood (ML) and restricted maximum likelihood (REML) estimators can be used for the smoothing parameters in splines, etc.  相似文献
