Record values are closely connected with the occurrence times of a corresponding non-homogeneous Poisson process and in reliability theory, they are used in shock models. In this paper, first, some distribution properties of current records are presented. It is then shown that the hazard (reversed hazard) function of the upper (lower) current records can be expressed in terms of the hazard (reversed hazard) function of the parent distribution. Some reliability relationships between the original variable X and the corresponding current records and with record ranges are established. Also, preservation of some uncertainty measure based on current records is discussed.  相似文献

In this article, first, in order to compare X and X w (the weighted version of X with weight function w(·)) according to reversed mean residual life order, we provide an equivalent condition. We then try to provide conditions under which the reversed mean residual life order is preserved by weighted distributions. For this end, we obtain several independent results. Finally, the problem of preservation of increasing reversed mean residual life class under weighting is investigated, as well. Some examples are also given to illustrate the results.  相似文献

In this paper, we study ordering properties of lifetimes of parallel systems with two independent heterogeneous exponential components in terms of the likelihood ratio order (reversed hazard rate order) and the hazard rate order (stochastic order). We establish, among others, that the weakly majorization order between two hazard rate vectors is equivalent to the likelihood ratio order (reversed hazard rate order) between lifetimes of two parallel systems, and that the p-larger order between two hazard rate vectors is equivalent to the hazard rate order (stochastic order) between lifetimes of two parallel systems. Moreover, we extend the results to the proportional hazard rate models. The results derived here strengthen and generalize some of the results known in the literature.  相似文献

Recently, the concept of reversed mean residual life order based on the mean of the random variable X t  = (t ? X | X ≤ t), t > 0, called the reversed residual life, defined for the nonnegative random variable X, has been introduced in the literature. In this paper, a stochastic order based on the shifted version of the reversed mean residual life is proposed, based on the reversed mean residual life function for a random variable X with support (l X , ∞), where l X may be negative infinity, and its properties are studied. Closure under the Poisson shock model and properties for spare allocation are also discussed.  相似文献

This paper deals with the allocation of active redundancies to a k-out-of-n system with independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) components in the sense of the hazard rate order. It is shown that the system's hazard rate may be decreased by balancing the allocation of active redundancies. This generalizes the main result of Singh and Singh (1997) and improves the corresponding one of Hu and Wang (2009) as well. As an application, we build the reversed hazard rate order on order statistics from sample having proportional hazard rates, which strengthens the usual stochastic order in Theorem 2.1 of Pledger and Proschan (1971) to the reversed hazard order in the situation that all components are of (rational) proportional hazard rates.  相似文献

Reversed preservation properties of some negative aging conceptions are developed for the parallel and series system which are composed of independent and identical elements. If the system is of NWU(2) (IMRL, NWUC) properties then the elements is also of NWU(2) (IMRL, NWUC) properties. Reversed preservation properties of the right spread order and the total time on test transform order under the taking of maxima and minima are investigated respectively, applications in moments of NBUE ordered populations is presented as well. Uniform stochastic orderings of random variables are expressed as total positivity (TP) of density, survival, and distribution functions. The orderings are called uniform because each is a stochastic order that persists under conditioning to a family of intervals—for example, the family consisting of all intervals of the form (-∞,x]. This paper is concerned with the preservation of uniform stochastic ordering under convolution, mixing, and the formation of coherent systems. A general TP2 result involving preservation of total positivity under integration is presented and applied to convolutions and mixtures of distribution and survival functions. Log-concavity of distribution, survival, and density functions characterizes distributions that preserve the various orderings under convolution. Likewise, distributions that preserve orderings under mixing are characterized by TP2 distribution and survival functions.  相似文献

Let X (n) and X (1) be the largest and smallest order statistics, respectively, of a random sample of fixed size n. Quite generally, X (1) and X (n) are approximately independent for n sufficiently large. In this article, we study the dependence properties of random extremes in terms of their copula, when the sample size has a left-truncated binomial distribution and show that they tend to be more dependent in this case. We also give closed-form formulas for the measures of association Kendall's τ and Spearman's ρ to measure the amount of dependence between two extremes.  相似文献

Abstract

The Dagum distribution has been extensively used to model income data, and its features have been appreciated in economics and financial studies. In this article, we discuss ordering properties of largest order statistics from independent and heterogeneous Dagum populations. We present some sufficient conditions for stochastic comparisons between largest order statistics in terms of the reversed hazard rate order, the usual stochastic order, the convex order, the likelihood ratio order and the dispersive order. Several numerical examples are presented to illustrate the results established here.  相似文献

In this paper we give some properties of the expected values of any order statistic when one of its adjacent order statistics is known (order mean function) from a sequence of sizen of independent and identically distributed random variables with discrete distribution. Furthermore, we obtain the explicit expressions of the distribution from these order mean functions, and finally, we show the necessary and sufficient conditions for any real function to be an order mean function. We also add some examples of characterization of discrete distributions from the order mean functions. This paper deals with preservation of the reversed hazard rate order between equilibrium random variables under formations of some reliability structures. We further investigate a new aging notion based upon the reversed hazard rate order between a random life and its equilibrium version. A nonparametric method is developed to test the exponentiality against such a strict aging property, some numerical results are presented as well. In this paper, we introduce a new positive dependence concept between two non negative random variables which is related to a conditional version of the mean inactivity time order. A number of properties and relationship between the new notion and the concept of positive likelihood ratio dependence (PLRD) is discussed. By considering order statistics arising from n independent non-identically distributed right-truncated exponential random variables, we derive in this paper several recurrence relations for the single and the product moments of order statistics. These recurrence relations are simple in nature and could be used systematically in order to compute all the single and the product moments of order statistics for all sample sizes in a simple recursive manner. The results for order statistics from a multiple-outlier model (with a slippage of p observations) from a right-truncated exponential population are deduced as special cases. These results will be useful in assessing robustness properties of any linear estimator of the unknown parameter of the right-truncated exponential distribution, in the presence of one or more outliers in the sample. These results generalize those for the order statistics arising from an i.i.d. sample from a right-truncated exponential population established by Joshi (1978, 1982).  相似文献

In this paper, a comparison between the life distribution of a new unit with that of a used unit in the increasing convex order is made leading to a new class of life distributions which we call “new better than used in convex ordering of second order”. This class includes as subclasses the NBU and the NBUC and is a subclass of the NBUCA class. Preservation properties under convolution, random maxima, mixing and formation of coherent structures are established. Stochastic comparisons of the excess lifetime when the inter-arrival times belong to the NBUC(2) class are developed. Some applications of Poisson shock models and a test of exponentiality against NBUC(2) alternative are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we first investigate some reliability properties in the proportional mean past lifetimes model. Specifically, some implications of stochastic orders and aging notions between random variables which have proportional mean past lifetimes are discussed. Then, as an extension, mixture model arising from the proportional mean past lifetimes model is introduced and preservation properties of some stochastic orders and aging notions concerning this mixture model are studied. This article studies the mixed proportional odds model. We build TP2 dependence between the overall population variable and the unobservable covariate and present some preservation properties. In this paper, we first provide conditions for preservation of the mean residual life (mrl) order under weighting. Then we apply the obtained results to establish our results about preservation of the decreasing mrl class by weighted distributions. In this work, first a new characterization of distributions based on order statistics is presented. Next, we review some conditional expectation properties of order statistics, which can be used to establish some equivalent forms for conditional expectations for sum of random variables based on order statistics. There are several well-known mappings which transform the first r common order statistics in a sample of size n from a standard uniform distribution to a full vector of dimension r of order statistics in a sample of size r from a uniform distribution. Continuing the results reported in a previous paper by the authors, it is shown that transformations of these types do not lead to order statistics from an i.i.d. sample of random variables, in general, when being applied to order statistics from non-uniform distributions. By accepting the loss of one dimension, a structure-preserving transformation exists for power function distributions.  相似文献
