This paper presents a study of D- and A-optimality of direct sum designs for additive mixture models when the errors are heteroscedastic. Sufficient conditions are given so that D- and A-optimal designs for additive mixture models can be constructed from the D- and A-optimal designs for homogeneous models in sub-mixture systems.  相似文献

In this paper D- and V-optimal population designs for the quadratic regression model with a random intercept term and with values of the explanatory variable taken from a set of equally spaced, non-repeated time points are considered. D-optimal population designs based on single-point individual designs were readily found but the derivation of explicit expressions for designs based on two-point individual designs was not straightforward and was complicated by the fact that the designs now depend on ratio of the variance components. Further algebraic results pertaining to d-point D-optimal population designs where d≥3 and to V-optimal population designs proved elusive. The requisite designs can be calculated by careful programming and this is illustrated by means of a simple example.  相似文献

This paper provides methods of obtaining Bayesian D-optimal Accelerated Life Test (ALT) plans for series systems with independent exponential component lives under the Type-I censoring scheme. Two different Bayesian D-optimality design criteria are considered. For both the criteria, first optimal designs for a given number of experimental points are found by solving a finite-dimensional constrained optimization problem. Next, the global optimality of such an ALT plan is ensured by applying the General Equivalence Theorem. A detailed sensitivity analysis is also carried out to investigate the effect of different planning inputs on the resulting optimal ALT plans. Furthermore, these Bayesian optimal plans are also compared with the corresponding (frequentist) locally D-optimal ALT plans.  相似文献

An obvious strategy for obtaining a Doptimal foldover design for p factors at two levels each in 2N runs is to fold a Doptimal main effects plan. We show that this strategy works except when N = 4t + 2 and s is even In that case there are two different classes of D-optimal main effects plans with N runs that have the same determinant. The problem of finding D-optimal designs, with two dispersion factors, for the estimation of all location main effects is investigated in the class of regular unreplicated two-level fractional factorial designs of resolution III. Designs having length three words involving both of the dispersion factors in the defining relation are shown to be inferior in terms of D-optimality. Tables of factors that are named as the two dispersion factors so that the resulting design is either D-optimal or has the largest determinant of the information matrix are provided. Rank-order of designs is studied when the number of length three words involving either one of the dispersion factors and the number of length four words involving both of the dispersion factors are fixed. Rank-order of designs when the numbers of aforementioned words are less than or equal to ten is given.  相似文献

In a rank-order choice-based conjoint experiment, the respondent is asked to rank a number of alternatives of a number of choice sets. In this paper, we study the efficiency of those experiments and propose a D-optimality criterion for rank-order experiments to find designs yielding the most precise parameter estimators. For that purpose, an expression of the Fisher information matrix for the rank-ordered conditional logit model is derived which clearly shows how much additional information is provided by each extra ranking step. A simulation study shows that, besides the Bayesian D-optimal ranking design, the Bayesian D-optimal choice design is also an appropriate design for this type of experiments. Finally, it is shown that considerable improvements in estimation and prediction accuracy are obtained by including extra ranking steps in an experiment.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to present the optimal designs based on D-, G-, A-, I-, and D β-optimality criteria for random coefficient regression (RCR) models with heteroscedastic errors. A sufficient condition for the heteroscedastic structure is given to make sure that the search of optimal designs can be confined at extreme settings of the design region when the criteria satisfy the assumption of the real valued monotone design criteria. Analytical solutions of D-, G-, A-, I-, and D β-optimal designs for the RCR models are derived. Two examples are presented for random slope models with specific heteroscedastic errors.  相似文献

Abstract

A second-order model involving the intercept and only the pure quadratic terms is considered for regression over hypercubes. Minimization of the variance of the difference between estimated responses at two points, maximized over all pairs of points in the region of interest in factor space, is taken as the design criterion. Optimal design under the minimax criterion is derived and found to be the one which is also simultaneously A-, D-, and E-optimal for the parameters excluding the intercept. The minimax design is compared with other standard designs and is found to perform extremely well.  相似文献

In this work, we study D s -optimal design for Kozak's tree taper model. The approximate D s -optimal designs are found invariant to tree size and hence create a ground to construct a general replication-free D s -optimal design. Even though the designs are found not to be dependent on the parameter value p of the Kozak's model, they are sensitive to the s×1 subset parameter vector values of the model. The 12 points replication-free design (with 91% efficiency) suggested in this study is believed to reduce cost and time for data collection and more importantly to precisely estimate the subset parameters of interest.  相似文献

We consider optimal designs for a class of symmetric models for binary data which includes the common probit and logit models. We show that for a large group of optimality criteria which includes the main ones in the literature (e.g. A-, D-, E-, F- and G-optimality) the optimal design for our class of models is a two-point design with support points symmetrically placed about the ED50 but with possibly unequal weighting. We demonstrate how one can further reduce the problem to a one-variable optimization by characterizing various of the common criteria. We also use the results to demonstrate major qualitative differences between the F - and c-optimal designs, two design criteria which have similar motivation.  相似文献

In this article, we derive optimum designs for parameter estimation in a mixture experiment when the response function is linear in the mixing components with some synergistic effects. Optimal designs for logistic models generally require prior information about the values of the regression parameters. However, experimenters usually do not have full knowledge of these parameters. We propose a design that is D-optimal on a restricted design region. This design assigns an equal weight to design points that contain more information and ignores those design points that contain less information about the regression parameters. The design can be constructed in practice by means of the rank order of the outcome variances. A numerical study compares the proposed design with the D-optimal and completely balanced designs in terms of efficiency.  相似文献

The present paper analyzes the linear regression model with a nonzero intercept term on the vertices of a d-dimensional unit cube. This setting may be interpreted as a model of weighing d objects on a spring balance with a constant bias. We give analytic formulas for E-optimal designs, as well as their minimal efficiencies under the class of all orthogonally invariant optimality criteria, proving the criterion-robustness of the E-optimal designs. In this paper we investigate the problem of designing experiments for generalized least-squares analysis in the Michaelis–Menten model. We study the structure of exact D-optimal designs in a model with an autoregressive error structure. Explicit results for locally D-optimal designs are derived for the case where two observations can be taken per subject. Additionally standardized maximin D-optimal designs are obtained in this case. The results illustrate the enormous difficulties to find exact optimal designs explicitly for nonlinear regression models with correlated observations.  相似文献

For given positive integers v, b, and k (all of them ≥2) a block design is a k × b array of the variety labels 1,…,v with blocks as columns. For the usual one-way heterogeneity model in standard form the problem is studied of finding a D-optimal block design for estimating the variety contrasts, when no balanced block design (BBD) exists. The paper presents solutions to this problem for v≤6. The results on D-optimality are derived from a graph-theoretic context. Block designs can be considered as multigraphs, and a block design is D-optimal iff its multigraph has greatest complexity (=number of spanning trees).  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of optimal design for inference in Generalized Linear Models, when prior information about the parameters is available. The general theory of optimum design usually requires knowledge of the parameter values. These are usually unknown and optimal design can, therefore, not be used in practice. However, one way to circumvent this problem is through so-called “optimal design in average”, or shortly, “ave optimal”. The ave optimal design is chosen to minimize the expected value of some criterion function over a prior distribution. We focus our interest on the aveD A-optimality, including aveD- and avec-optimality and show the appropriate equivalence theorems for these optimality criterions, which give necessary conditions for an optimal design. Ave optimal designs are of interest when e.g. a factorial experiment with a binary or a Poisson response in to be conducted. The results are applied to factorial experiments, including a control group experiment and a 2×2 experiment.  相似文献

This paper considers the search for locally and maximin optimal designs for multi-factor nonlinear models from optimal designs for sub-models of a lower dimension. In particular, sufficient conditions are given so that maximin D-optimal designs for additive multi-factor nonlinear models can be built from maximin D-optimal designs for their sub-models with a single factor. Experimental designs are widely used in predicting the optimal operating conditions of the process parameters in lifetime improvement experiments. The most commonly observed lifetime distributions are log-normal, exponential, gamma and Weibull. In the present article, invariant robust first-order rotatable designs are derived for autocorrelated lifetime responses having log-normal, exponential, gamma and Weibull distributions. In the process, robust first-order D-optimal and rotatable conditions have been derived under these situations. For these lifetime distributions with correlated errors, it is shown that robust first-order D-optimal designs are always robust rotatable but the converse is not true. Moreover, it is observed that robust first-order D-optimal and rotatable designs depend on the respective error variance–covariance structure but are independent from these considered lifetime response distributions.  相似文献

Das and Park (2006) introduced slope-rotatable designs overall directions for correlated observations which is known as A-optimal robust slope-rotatable designs. This article focuses D-optimal slope-rotatable designs for second-order response surface model with correlated observations. It has been established that robust second-order rotatable designs are also D-optimal robust slope-rotatable designs.
