Vice Minister Wang Pei'an paid a visit to UNFPA Headquarters

On April 12,2011,Mr.Wang Pei’ an,Vice Minister of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) attended the 44th Session of UN Commission on Population and Development in New York.During the session,he paid a visit to UNFPA headquarters and had a conversation with Dr.Babatunde Osotimehin, Executive Director of UNFPA. An International Forum on Population and Development was held during, September 7-9 in Wuhan, capital city of central China‘s Hubei Province, to mark the lOth anniversary of both the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Partners in Population and Development (PPD). A Study of the Nonlinear Relationship between Population and Carbon Emissions By Wang Qinchi Abstract:Both theoretical and empirical analyses show that relationship between population development and carbon emissions is dynamic,and the population elasticity of carbon emissions is a nonlinear function of population size,age structure,household size, urbanization,sex structure,and economic development.This paper argues that the model based on the hypothesis that the relationship between population and carbon emissions is nonlinear results     

The Large Population in China: A Major Obstacle to Modernization?

"A large population" has long been the most prominent national condition of China. Whilepopulation research has been of 20 years in China, the relationship between population andmodernization attracts not much attention, and in the practical life, population issues are typically regarded as issues of population quantity which in turn are oversimplified as fertility issues. Hence, a misunderstanding is prevailing that "a large population" is the whole thing ofChina's population problems. This issue of "Population and Development Forum" attempts to open up views objectively toexamine the actual situation of "a large population in China", and to bring together the wisdom of different disciplines on population problems influencing the process of modermization.
