A test based on empirical distribution function had been proposed for testing the goodness of fit of an assigned mean residual life function against a one sided alternative. The test statistic has been shown to be consistent and has an asymptotic normal distribution. The test performance is good in the asymptotic relative efficiency sense.  相似文献

The power properties of a statistic based on the use of exponential scores which may be used for testing whether a series of events occurring in time form an ordinary renewal process against trend alternatives are examined. Small sample power comparisons under a Lehmann trend alternative are made with an alternative nonparametric test based on a rank trend statistic and with the parametric test when the intervals are exponentially distributed. Finally, some asymptotic efficiency results are developed for limiting trend alternatives.  相似文献

A new test statistic for testing the strict DMRL property of life distribution is developed. The asymptotic normality is established and the comparison between the test proposed and some other related ones in literature is conducted through evaluating the Pitman's asymptotic relative efficiency. Edge-worth expansion is also employed to improve the accuracy of the convergence rate of the test statistic. Some numerical results are presented as well to demonstrate the performance and the asymptotic normality of the new testing procedure.  相似文献

A statistic based on the frequencies within the k+1 intervals specified by k arbitrary quantiles is proposed for a LMP test against Lehmann alternatives generalizing the Savage test for the two-sample problem. The maximum efficiency relative to the Savage test for optimally chosen k quantiles is also provided for k=l(2)l5. The asymptotic normality of the statistic follows from the asymptotic multinomial distribution of the frequencies in the classes determined by the k quantiles.  相似文献

Bhattacharyya and Kioiz (1966) propose two multivariate nonparametric tests for monotone trend, one involving coordinate-wise Mann statistics and the other, coordinate-wise Spearman statistics. Dietz and Killeen (1981) propose a different test statistic based on coordinate-wise Mann statistics. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency of all three tests with respect to a normal theory competitor equals the cube root of the efficiency of a multivariate signed rank test with respect to Hotelling's T2. In this article, the small sample power of the nonparametric tests, the normal theory test, and a Bonferroni approach involving coordinate-wise univariate Mann or Spearman tests is examined in a simulation study. The Mann statistic of Dietz and Killeen and the Spearman statistic of Bhattacharyya and Klotz are found to perform well under both null and alternative hypotheses  相似文献

Abstract.  For a class of vector-valued non-Gaussian stationary processes, we develop the Cressie–Read power-divergence (CR) statistic approach which has been proposed for the i.i.d. case. The CR statistic includes empirical likelihood as a special case. Therefore, by adopting this CR statistic approach, the theory of estimation and testing based on empirical likelihood is greatly extended. We use an extended Whittle likelihood as score function and derive the asymptotic distribution of the CR statistic. We apply this result to estimation of autocorrelation and the AR coefficient, and get narrower confidence intervals than those obtained by existing methods. We also consider the power properties of the test based on asymptotic theory. Under a sequence of contiguous local alternatives, we derive the asymptotic distribution of the CR statistic. The problem of testing autocorrelation is discussed and we introduce some interesting properties of the local power.  相似文献

A two sairmle Wilcoxon type statistic is proposed for analyzing data for which the pN(0<p≤l) smallest observations are to be observed sequentially and the study terminated as soon as a statistically significant difference is obtained. The statistic is a special case of a general formulation due to chatteriee and Sen (1973), The asymptotic null distribution is presented and simulation studies reported which indicate chat the asymptotic distribution is useful for pN>60. Monte clarlo experiments comparing this statistic with another Wilcoxon type statistic proposed by Halperin and Ware (1974) are presented.  相似文献

A nonparametric rank test for the two-sample location and scale bivariate problem is proposed. The asymptotic distribution of the statistic of the test is derived under the null hypothesis and under a class of contiguous alternatives. The asymptotic relative efficiency is given and a simulation study gives the performance of the test and some competitors.  相似文献

An empirical likelihood ratio test is developed for testing for or against inequality constraints on regression parameters in linear regression analysis. The proposed approach imposes no parametric model nor identically distributing assumption on the random errors. The asymptotic distribution of the proposed test statistic under null hypothesis is shown to be of chi-bar-squared type. The asymptotic power under contiguous alternatives is also briefly discussed. Moreover, an adjusted empirical likelihood method is adopted to improve the small sample size behaviour of the proposed test. Several simulation studies are carried out to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed tests. The results reveal that the proposed tests could be valuable for improving inference efficiency. A real-life example is discussed to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

A nonparametric test for circular symmetry about 0 in a continuous bivariate distribution is proposed. The test is of the von Mises type, based on the empirical cdf of the sample, expressed in polar co-ordinates. However, the test is independent of the choice of the polar axis. The asymptotic form of the test statistic is obtained by considering the weak convergence of the empirical process to a limiting Gaussian process. The asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is found explicitly, both under the null hypothesis and under simple alternatives. The test is shown to be consistent against all alternatives.  相似文献

For estimating the distribution of a standardized statistic, the bootstrap estimate is known to be local asymptotic minimax. Various computational techniques have been developed to improve on the simulation efficiency of uniform resampling, the standard Monte Carlo approach to approximating the bootstrap estimate. Two new approaches are proposed which give accurate yet simple approximations to the bootstrap estimate. The second of the approaches even improves the convergence rate of the simulation error. A simulation study examines the performance of these two approaches in comparison with other modified bootstrap estimates.  相似文献

When testing hypotheses in two-sample problem, the Lepage test statistic is often used to jointly test the location and scale parameters, and this test statistic has been discussed by many authors over the years. Since two-sample nonparametric testing plays an important role in biometry, the Cucconi test statistic is generalized to the location, scale, and location–scale parameters in two-sample problem. The limiting distribution of the suggested test statistic is derived under the hypotheses. Deriving the exact critical value of the test statistic is difficult when the sample sizes are increased. A gamma approximation is used to evaluate the upper tail probability for the proposed test statistic given finite sample sizes. The asymptotic efficiencies of the proposed test statistic are determined for various distributions. The consistency of the original Cucconi test statistic is shown on the specific cases. Finally, the original Cucconi statistic is discussed in the theory of ties.  相似文献

Power-divergence goodness-of-fit statistics have asymptotically a chi-squared distribution. Asymptotic results may not apply in small-sample situations, and the exact significance of a goodness-of-fit statistic may potentially be over- or under-stated by the asymptotic distribution. Several correction terms have been proposed to improve the accuracy of the asymptotic distribution, but their performance has only been studied for the equiprobable case. We extend that research to skewed hypotheses. Results are presented for one-way multinomials involving k = 2 to 6 cells with sample sizes N = 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 and nominal test sizes f = 0.1, 0.05, 0.01 and 0.001. Six power-divergence goodness-of-fit statistics were investigated, and five correction terms were included in the study. Our results show that skewness itself does not affect the accuracy of the asymptotic approximation, which depends only on the magnitude of the smallest expected frequency (whether this comes from a small sample with the equiprobable hypothesis or a large sample with a skewed hypothesis). Throughout the conditions of the study, the accuracy of the asymptotic distribution seems to be optimal for Pearson's X2 statistic (the power-divergence statistic of index u = 1) when k > 3 and the smallest expected frequency is as low as between 0.1 and 1.5 (depending on the particular k, N and nominal test size), but a computationally inexpensive improvement can be obtained in these cases by using a moment-corrected h2 distribution. If the smallest expected frequency is even smaller, a normal correction yields accurate tests through the log-likelihood-ratio statistic G2 (the power-divergence statistic of index u = 0).  相似文献

A test for exponentiality based on progressively Type-II right censored spacings has been proposed recently by Balakrishnan et al. (2002). They derived the asymptotic null distribution of the test statistic. In this work, we utilize the algorithm of Huffer and Lin (2001) to evaluate the exact null probabilities and the exact critical values of this test statistic.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is twofold:On one hand we want to give a very simple algorithm for evaluating a special rank estimator of the type given in Behnen, Neuhaus, and Ruymgaart (1983) for the approximate optimal choice of the scores-generating function of a two-sample linear rank test for the general testing problem Ho:F=G versus H1:F ≤ G, F ≠ G, in order to demonstrate that the corresponding adaptive rank statistic is simple enough for practical applications. On the other hand we prove the asymptotic normality of the adaptive rank statistic under H (leading to approximate critical values) and demonstrate the adaptive behavior of the corresponding rank test by a Monte Carlo power simulation for sample sizes as low as m=10, n=10.  相似文献

To model growth curves in survival analysis and biological studies the logistic distribution has been widely used. In this article, we propose a goodness-of-fit test for the logistic distribution based on an estimate of the Gini index. The exact distribution of the proposed test statistic and also its asymptotic distribution are presented. In order to compute the proposed test statistic, parameters of the logistic distribution are estimated by approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLEs), which are simple explicit estimators. Through Monte Carlo simulations, power comparisons of the proposed test with some known competing tests are carried. Finally, an illustrative example is presented and analyzed.  相似文献

The concepts of guarded weights of evidence and acceptability profiles have been extended to the distribution-free setting in Dollinger, Kulinskaya & Staudte (1999). In that first of two parts the advantages of these concepts relative to traditional ones such as p -values and confidence intervals derived from hypothesis tests are emphasized for small samples. Here in Part II asymptotic expressions are found for guarded weights of evidence for hypothesesregarding the median of a symmetric distribution and related acceptability profiles for the median. It is also seen that for local alternatives the efficacy and Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency of the sign statistic for testing hypotheses carries over to the more general setting of guarded weights of evidence.  相似文献

A strictly nonparametric bivariate test for two sample location problem is proposed. The proposed test is easy to apply and does not require the stringent condition of affine-symmetry or elliptical symmetry which is required by some of the major tests available for the same problem. The power function of the proposed test is calculated. The asymptotic distribution of the proposed test statistic is found to be normal. The power of proposed test is compared with some of the well-known tests under various distributions using Monte Carlo simulation technique. The power study shows that the proposed test statistic performs better than most of the test statistics for almost all the distributions considered here. As soon as the underlying population structure deviates from normality, the ability of the proposed test statistic to detect the smallest shift in location increases as compared to its competitors. The application of the test is shown by using a data set.  相似文献

We propose a test based on Bonferroni's measure of skewness. The test detects the asymmetry of a distribution function about an unknown median. We study the asymptotic distribution of the given test statistic and provide a consistent estimate of its variance. The asymptotic relative efficiency of the proposed test is computed along with Monte Carlo estimates of its power. This allows us to perform a comparison of the test based on Bonferroni's measure with other tests for symmetry.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and study a new global test, namely, GPF test, for the one‐way anova problem for functional data, obtained via globalizing the usual pointwise F‐test. The asymptotic random expressions of the test statistic are derived, and its asymptotic power is investigated. The GPF test is shown to be root‐n consistent. It is much less computationally intensive than a parametric bootstrap test proposed in the literature for the one‐way anova for functional data. Via some simulation studies, it is found that in terms of size‐controlling and power, the GPF test is comparable with two existing tests adopted for the one‐way anova problem for functional data. A real data example illustrates the GPF test.  相似文献
