The accelerated failure time (AFT) model is an important regression tool to study the association between failure time and covariates. In this paper, we propose a robust weighted generalized M (GM) estimation for the AFT model with right-censored data by appropriately using the Kaplan–Meier weights in the GM–type objective function to estimate the regression coefficients and scale parameter simultaneously. This estimation method is computationally simple and can be implemented with existing software. Asymptotic properties including the root-n consistency and asymptotic normality are established for the resulting estimator under suitable conditions. We further show that the method can be readily extended to handle a class of nonlinear AFT models. Simulation results demonstrate satisfactory finite sample performance of the proposed estimator. The practical utility of the method is illustrated by a real data example.  相似文献

Composite quantile regression (CQR) is motivated by the desire to have an estimator for linear regression models that avoids the breakdown of the least-squares estimator when the error variance is infinite, while having high relative efficiency even when the least-squares estimator is fully efficient. Here, we study two weighting schemes to further improve the efficiency of CQR, motivated by Jiang et al. [Oracle model selection for nonlinear models based on weighted composite quantile regression. Statist Sin. 2012;22:1479–1506]. In theory the two weighting schemes are asymptotically equivalent to each other and always result in more efficient estimators compared with CQR. Although the first weighting scheme is hard to implement, it sheds light on in what situations the improvement is expected to be large. A main contribution is to theoretically and empirically identify that standard CQR has good performance compared with weighted CQR only when the error density is logistic or close to logistic in shape, which was not noted in the literature.  相似文献

This study examines estimation and inference based on quantile regression for parametric nonlinear models with an integrated time series covariate. We first derive the limiting distribution of the nonlinear quantile regression estimator and then consider testing for parameter restrictions, when the regression function is specified as an asymptotically homogeneous function. We also study linear-in-parameter regression models when the regression function is given by integrable regression functions as well as asymptotically homogeneous regression functions. We, furthermore, propose a fully modified estimator to reduce the bias in the original estimator under a certain set of conditions. Finally, simulation studies show that the estimators behave well, especially when the regression error term has a fat-tailed distribution.  相似文献

This paper considers the analysis of time to event data in the presence of collinearity between covariates. In linear and logistic regression models, the ridge regression estimator has been applied as an alternative to the maximum likelihood estimator in the presence of collinearity. The advantage of the ridge regression estimator over the usual maximum likelihood estimator is that the former often has a smaller total mean square error and is thus more precise. In this paper, we generalized this approach for addressing collinearity to the Cox proportional hazards model. Simulation studies were conducted to evaluate the performance of the ridge regression estimator. Our approach was motivated by an occupational radiation study conducted at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to evaluate health risks associated with occupational radiation exposure in which the exposure tends to be correlated with possible confounders such as years of exposure and attained age. We applied the proposed methods to this study to evaluate the association of radiation exposure with all-cause mortality.  相似文献

Liang and Zeger (1986) introduced a class of estimating equations that gives consistent estimates of regression parameters and of their asymptotic variances in the class of generalized linear models for cluster correlated data. When the independent variables or covariates in such models are subject to measurement errors, the parameter estimates obtained from these estimating equations are no longer consistent. To correct for the effect of measurement errors, an estimator with smaller asymptotic bias is constructed along the lines of Stefanski (1985), assuming that the measurement error variance is either known or estimable. The asymptotic distribution of the bias-corrected estimator and a consistent estimator of its asymptotic variance are also given. The special case of a binary logistic regression model is studied in detail. For this case, methods based on conditional scores and quasilikelihood are also extended to cluster correlated data. Results of a small simulation study on the performance of the proposed estimators and associated tests of hypotheses are reported.  相似文献

The logistic regression model is used when the response variables are dichotomous. In the presence of multicollinearity, the variance of the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) becomes inflated. The Liu estimator for the linear regression model is proposed by Liu to remedy this problem. Urgan and Tez and Mansson et al. examined the Liu estimator (LE) for the logistic regression model. We introduced the restricted Liu estimator (RLE) for the logistic regression model. Moreover, a Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted for comparing the performances of the MLE, restricted maximum likelihood estimator (RMLE), LE, and RLE for the logistic regression model.  相似文献

Clustering due to unobserved heterogeneity may seriously impact on inference from binary regression models. We examined the performance of the logistic, and the logistic-normal models for data with such clustering. The total variance of unobserved heterogeneity rather than the level of clustering determines the size of bias of the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, for the logistic model. Incorrect specification of clustering as level 2, using the logistic-normal model, provides biased estimates of the structural and random parameters, while specifying level 1, provides unbiased estimates for the former, and adequately estimates the latter. The proposed procedure appeals to many research areas.  相似文献

We propose quantile regression (QR) in the Bayesian framework for a class of nonlinear mixed effects models with a known, parametric model form for longitudinal data. Estimation of the regression quantiles is based on a likelihood-based approach using the asymmetric Laplace density. Posterior computations are carried out via Gibbs sampling and the adaptive rejection Metropolis algorithm. To assess the performance of the Bayesian QR estimator, we compare it with the mean regression estimator using real and simulated data. Results show that the Bayesian QR estimator provides a fuller examination of the shape of the conditional distribution of the response variable. Our approach is proposed for parametric nonlinear mixed effects models, and therefore may not be generalized to models without a given model form.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to present a new method to predict the response variable of an observation in a new cluster for a multilevel logistic regression. The central idea is based on the empirical best estimator for the random effect. Two estimation methods for multilevel model are compared: penalized quasi-likelihood and Gauss–Hermite quadrature. The performance measures for the prediction of the probability for a new cluster observation of the multilevel logistic model in comparison with the usual logistic model are examined through simulations and an application.  相似文献

In longitudinal studies or clustered designs, observations for each subject or cluster are dependent and exhibit intra-correlation. To account for this dependency, we consider Bayesian analysis for conditionally specified models, so-called generalized linear mixed model. In nonlinear mixed models, the maximum likelihood estimator of the regression coefficients is typically a function of the distribution of random effects, and so the misspecified choice of the distribution of random effects can cause bias in the estimator. To avoid the problem of the misspecification of the distribution of random effects, one can resort in nonparametric approaches. We give sufficient conditions for posterior consistency of the distribution of random effects as well as regression coefficients.  相似文献

The logistic regression model has been widely used in the social and natural sciences and results from studies using this model can have significant policy impacts. Thus, confidence in the reliability of inferences drawn from these models is essential. The robustness of such inferences is dependent on sample size. The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of alternative data sets on the mean estimated bias and efficiency of parameter estimation and inference for the logistic regression model with observational data. A number of simulations are conducted examining the impact of sample size, nonlinear predictors, and multicollinearity on substantive inferences (e.g. odds ratios, marginal effects) when using logistic regression models. Findings suggest that small sample size can negatively affect the quality of parameter estimates and inferences in the presence of rare events, multicollinearity, and nonlinear predictor functions, but marginal effects estimates are relatively more robust to sample size.  相似文献

This paper considers nonlinear regression models when neither the response variable nor the covariates can be directly observed, but are measured with both multiplicative and additive distortion measurement errors. We propose conditional variance and conditional mean calibration estimation methods for the unobserved variables, then a nonlinear least squares estimator is proposed. For the hypothesis testing of parameter, a restricted estimator under the null hypothesis and a test statistic are proposed. The asymptotic properties for the estimator and test statistic are established. Lastly, a residual-based empirical process test statistic marked by proper functions of the regressors is proposed for the model checking problem. We further suggest a bootstrap procedure to calculate critical values. Simulation studies demonstrate the performance of the proposed procedure and a real example is analysed to illustrate its practical usage.  相似文献

The author proposes an extension of reproducing kernel Hilbert space theory which provides a new framework for analyzing functional responses with regression models. The approach only presumes a general nonlinear regression structure, as opposed to existing linear regression models. The author proposes generalized cross‐validation for automatic smoothing parameter estimation. He illustrates the use of the new estimator both on real and simulated data.  相似文献

It is known that when the multicollinearity exists in the logistic regression model, variance of maximum likelihood estimator is unstable. As a remedy, in the context of biased shrinkage Liu estimation, Chang introduced an almost unbiased Liu estimator in the logistic regression model. Making use of his approach, when some prior knowledge in the form of linear restrictions are also available, we introduce a restricted almost unbiased Liu estimator in the logistic regression model. Statistical properties of this newly defined estimator are derived and some comparison results are also provided in the form of theorems. A Monte Carlo simulation study along with a real data example are given to investigate the performance of this estimator.  相似文献

Regression calibration is a simple method for estimating regression models when covariate data are missing for some study subjects. It consists in replacing an unobserved covariate by an estimator of its conditional expectation given available covariates. Regression calibration has recently been investigated in various regression models such as the linear, generalized linear, and proportional hazards models. The aim of this paper is to investigate the appropriateness of this method for estimating the stratified Cox regression model with missing values of the covariate defining the strata. Despite its practical relevance, this problem has not yet been discussed in the literature. Asymptotic distribution theory is developed for the regression calibration estimator in this setting. A simulation study is also conducted to investigate the properties of this estimator.  相似文献

In this paper a new robust estimator, modified median estimator, is introduced and studied for the logistic regression model. This estimator is based on the median estimator considered in Hobza et al. [Robust median estimator in logistic regression. J Stat Plan Inference. 2008;138:3822–3840]. Its asymptotic distribution is obtained. Using the modified median estimator, we also consider a Wald-type test statistic for testing linear hypotheses in the logistic regression model and we obtain its asymptotic distribution under the assumption of random regressors. An extensive simulation study is presented in order to analyse the efficiency as well as the robustness of the modified median estimator and Wald-type test based on it.  相似文献

This note considers a method for estimating regression parameters from the data containing measurement errors using some natural estimates of the unobserved explanatory variables. It is shown that the resulting estimator is consistent not only in the usual linear regression model but also in the probit model and regression models with censoship or truncation. However, it fails to be consistent in nonlinear regression models except for special cases.  相似文献

This paper examines the use of bootstrapping for bias correction and calculation of confidence intervals (CIs) for a weighted nonlinear quantile regression estimator adjusted to the case of longitudinal data. Different weights and types of CIs are used and compared by computer simulation using a logistic growth function and error terms following an AR(1) model. The results indicate that bias correction reduces the bias of a point estimator but fails for CI calculations. A bootstrap percentile method and a normal approximation method perform well for two weights when used without bias correction. Taking both coverage and lengths of CIs into consideration, a non-bias-corrected percentile method with an unweighted estimator performs best.  相似文献

It is known that when the multicollinearity exists in the logistic regression model, variance of maximum likelihood estimator is unstable. As a remedy, Schaefer et al. presented a ridge estimator in the logistic regression model. Making use of the ridge estimator, when some linear restrictions are also present, we introduce a restricted ridge estimator in the logistic regression model. Statistical properties of this newly defined estimator will be studied and comparisons are done in the simulation study in the sense of mean squared error criterion. A real-data example and a simulation study are introduced to discuss the performance of this estimator.  相似文献
