Sanaullah et al. (2014 Sanaullah, A., Ali, H.M., Noor ul Amin, M., Hanif, M. (2014). Generalized exponential chain ratio estimators under stratified two-phase random sampling. Appl. Math. Comput. 226:541547.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) have suggested generalized exponential chain ratio estimators under stratified two-phase sampling scheme for estimating the finite population mean. However, the bias and mean square error (MSE) expressions presented in that work need some corrections, and consequently the study based on efficiency comparison also requires corrections. In this article, we revisit Sanaullah et al. (2014 Sanaullah, A., Ali, H.M., Noor ul Amin, M., Hanif, M. (2014). Generalized exponential chain ratio estimators under stratified two-phase random sampling. Appl. Math. Comput. 226:541547.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) estimator and provide the correct bias and MSE expressions of their estimator. We also propose an estimator which is more efficient than several competing estimators including the classes of estimators in Sanaullah et al. (2014 Sanaullah, A., Ali, H.M., Noor ul Amin, M., Hanif, M. (2014). Generalized exponential chain ratio estimators under stratified two-phase random sampling. Appl. Math. Comput. 226:541547.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). Three real datasets are used for efficiency comparisons.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is to study U-type designs for Bayesian non parametric response surface prediction under correlated errors. The asymptotic Bayes criterion is developed in terms of the asymptotic approach of Mitchell et al. (1994 Mitchell, T., Sacks, J., Ylvisaker, D. (1994). Asymptotic Bayes criteria for nonparametric response surface design. Ann. Stat. 22:634651.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) for a more general covariance kernel proposed by Chatterjee and Qin (2011 Chatterjee, K., Qin, H. (2011). Generalized discrete discrepancy and its applications in experimental designs. J. Stat. Plann. Inference 141:951960.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). A relationship between the asymptotic Bayes criterion and other criteria, such as orthogonality and aberration, is then developed. A lower bound for the criterion is also obtained, and numerical results show that this lower bound is tight. The established results generalize those of Yue et al. (2011 Yue, R.X., Qin, H., Chatterjee, K. (2011). Optimal U-type design for Bayesian nonparametric multiresponse prediction. J. Stat. Plann. Inference 141:24722479.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) from symmetrical case to asymmetrical U-type designs.  相似文献

A method of solution for quadratic programs. Manage. Sci. 8(4):442453.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) algorithm. The purpose of this article is to present inequality constrained ridge regression (ICRR) estimator with correlated errors and inequality constrained two-stage and three-stage ridge regression estimators in the presence of multicollinearity. Untruncated variance–covariance matrix and mean square error are derived for the ICRR estimator with correlated errors, and its superiority over the GICLS estimator is examined via Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

Empirical Bayes (EB) methods are very useful for post selection inference. Following Datta et al. (2002 Datta, G. S., M. Ghosh, D. D. Smith, and P. Lahiri. 2002. On an asymptotic theory of conditional and unconditional coverage probabilities of empirical Bayes confidence intervals. Scandinavian Journal of Statistics 29:13952.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), we construct EB confidence intervals for the selected population mean. The EB intervals are adjusted to achieve the target coverage probabilities asymptotically up to the second order. Both unconditional coverage probabilities of EB intervals and corresponding probabilities conditional on ancillary statistics are found.  相似文献

This article introduces a new model called the buffered autoregressive model with generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (BAR-GARCH). The proposed model, as an extension of the BAR model in Li et al. (2015 Li, G.D., Guan, B., Li, W.K., and Yu, P. L.H. (2015), “Hysteretic Autoregressive Time Series Models,” Biometrika, 102, 717–723.[Crossref], [PubMed], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), can capture the buffering phenomena of time series in both the conditional mean and variance. Thus, it provides us a new way to study the nonlinearity of time series. Compared with the existing AR-GARCH and threshold AR-GARCH models, an application to several exchange rates highlights the importance of the BAR-GARCH model.  相似文献

In this article, the concept of cumulative residual entropy (CRE) given by Rao et al. (2004 Rao, M., Chen, Y., Vemuri, B.C., Wang, F. (2004). Cumulative residual entropy: A new measure of information. IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory 50:12201228.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) is extended to Tsallis entropy function and dynamic version, both residual and past of it. We study some properties and characterization results for these generalized measures. In addition, we provide some characterization results of the first-order statistic based on the Tsallis survival entropy.  相似文献

When a sufficient correlation between the study variable and the auxiliary variable exists, the ranks of the auxiliary variable are also correlated with the study variable, and thus, these ranks can be used as an effective tool in increasing the precision of an estimator. In this paper, we propose a new improved estimator of the finite population mean that incorporates the supplementary information in forms of: (i) the auxiliary variable and (ii) ranks of the auxiliary variable. Mathematical expressions for the bias and the mean-squared error of the proposed estimator are derived under the first order of approximation. The theoretical and empirical studies reveal that the proposed estimator always performs better than the usual mean, ratio, product, exponential-ratio and -product, classical regression estimators, and Rao (1991 Rao, T.J. Recently, Abbasnejad et al. (2010 Abbasnejad, M., Arghami, N.R., Morgenthaler, S., Mohtashami Borzadaran, G.R. (2010). On the dynamic survival entropy. Stat. Probab. Lett. 80:19621971.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) proposed a measure of uncertainty based on survival function, called the survival entropy of order α. A dynamic form of the survival entropy of order α is also proposed by them. In this paper, we derive the weighted form of these measures. The properties of the new measures are also discussed.  相似文献

A conditional extreme quantile estimator is proposed in the presence of random covariates. It is based on an adaptation of the moment estimator introduced by Dekkers et al. (1989 Dekkers, A.L.M., Einmahl, J.H.J., de Haan, L. (1989). A moment estimator for the index of an extreme-value distribution. Ann. Statist. 17:18331855.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) in the classical univariate setting, and thus it is valid in the domain of attraction of the extreme value distribution, i.e., whatever the sign of the extreme value index is. Asymptotic normality of the estimator is established under suitable assumptions, and its finite sample behavior is evaluated with a small simulation study, where a comparison with an alternative estimator already proposed in the literature is provided. An illustration to a real dataset concerning the world catalogue of earthquake magnitudes is also proposed.  相似文献

The crux of this paper is to estimate the mean of the number of persons possessing a rare sensitive attribute based on the Mangat (1992 Mangat, N.S. (1992). Two stage reandomized response sampling procedure using unrelated question. J. Ind. Soc. Agric. Stat. 44(1):8287. [Google Scholar]) randomization device by utilizing the Poisson distribution in survey sampling. It is shown that the proposed model is more efficient than Land et al. (2011 Land, M., Singh, S., Sedory, S.A. (2011). Estimation of a rare attribute using Poisson distribution. Statistics doi:10.1080/02331888.2010.524300[Taylor &; Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) when the proportion of persons possessing a rare unrelated attribute is known. Properties of the proposed randomized response model have been studied along with recommendations. We have also extended the proposed model to stratified random sampling on the lines of Lee et al. (2013 Lee, G.S., Uhm, D., Kim, J.M. (2013). Estimation of a rare sensitive attribute in stratified sampling using Poisson distribution. Statistics 47(3):575589.[Taylor &; Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). It has been also shown that the proposed estimator is better than Lee et al.'s (2013 Lee, G.S., Uhm, D., Kim, J.M. (2013). Estimation of a rare sensitive attribute in stratified sampling using Poisson distribution. Statistics 47(3):575589.[Taylor &; Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) estimator. Numerical illustrations are also given in support of the present study.  相似文献

Several methods using different approaches have been developed to remedy the consequences of collinearity. To the best of our knowledge, only the raise estimator proposed by García et al. (2010 García, C.B., García, J., Soto, J. (2010). The raise method: An alternative procedure to estimate the parameters in presence of collinearity. Qual. Quantity 45(2):403423.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) deals with this problem from a geometric perspective. This article fully develops the raise estimator for a model with two standardized explanatory variables. Inference in the raise estimator is examined, showing that it can be obtained from ordinary least squares methodology. In addition, contrary to what happens in ridge regression, the raise estimator maintains the coefficient of determination value constant. The expression of the variance inflation factor for the raise estimator is also presented. Finally, a comparative study of the raise and ridge estimators is carried out using an example.  相似文献

In this study we discuss multiple comparison procedures for checking differences among a sequence of normal means with ordered restriction. Lee and Spurrier (1995 Lee, R.E., Spurrier, J.D. (1995). Successive comparisons between ordered treatments. J. Stat. Plann. Inference 43:323330.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) proposed a multiple comparison procedure which tests the difference between two adjacent means using the difference of sample means. In this study we propose a multiple comparison procedure modifying Lee and Spurrier's (1995 Lee, R.E., Spurrier, J.D. (1995). Successive comparisons between ordered treatments. J. Stat. Plann. Inference 43:323330.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) procedure using isotonic regression estimators instead of sample means. We determine the critical value for pairwise comparisons for a specified significance level. Furthermore, we formulate the power of the test. Finally, we give some numerical examples regarding critical values and power of the test intended to compare our procedure with Lee and Spurrier's (1995 Lee, R.E., Spurrier, J.D. (1995). Successive comparisons between ordered treatments. J. Stat. Plann. Inference 43:323330.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) procedure.  相似文献

The aim of this letter to acknowledge of priority on calibration estimation. There are numerous studies on calibration estimation in literature. The studies on calibration estimation are reviewed and it is found out that an existing calibration estimator is reprocessed in the recent paper published by Nidhi et al. (2007 Nidhi, B. V. S. Sisodia, Subedar Singh, and Sanjay K. Singh. 2017. Calibration approach estimation of the mean in stratified sampling and stratified double sampling. By using the medical data analyzed by Kang et al. (2007 Kang, C.W., Lee, M.S., Seong, Y.J., Hawkins, D.M. (2007). A control chart for the coefficient of variation. J. Qual. Technol. 39(2):151158.[Taylor &; Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), a Bayesian procedure is applied to obtain control limits for the coefficient of variation. Reference and probability matching priors are derived for a common coefficient of variation across the range of sample values. By simulating the posterior predictive density function of a future coefficient of variation, it is shown that the control limits are effectively identical to those obtained by Kang et al. (2007 Kang, C.W., Lee, M.S., Seong, Y.J., Hawkins, D.M. (2007). A control chart for the coefficient of variation. J. Qual. Technol. 39(2):151158.[Taylor &; Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) for the specific dataset they used. This article illustrates the flexibility and unique features of the Bayesian simulation method for obtaining posterior distributions, predictive intervals, and run-lengths in the case of the coefficient of variation. A simulation study shows that the 95% Bayesian confidence intervals for the coefficient of variation have the correct frequentist coverage.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the asymptotic normality of the Hill's estimator of the tail index parameter, when the observations are weakly dependent in the sense of Doukhan and Louhichi (1999 Doukhan, P., Louhichi, S. (1999). A new weak dependence condition and applications to moment inequalities. Stochastic Process. Appl. 84:313342.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) and are drawn from a strictly linear process. We show that the previous result on Hill estimator obtained by Rootzen et al. (1990 Rootzen, H., Leadbetter, M., De Haan, L. (1990). Tail and quantile estimation for strongly mixing stationary sequences. Technical report. In analogy with the weighted Shannon entropy proposed by Belis and Guiasu (1968 Belis, M., Guiasu, S. (1968). A quantitative-qualitative measure of information in cybernetic systems. IEEE Trans. Inf. Th. IT-4:593594.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) and Guiasu (1986 Guiasu, S. (1986). Grouping data by using the weighted entropy. J. Stat. Plann. Inference 15:6369.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), we introduce a new information measure called weighted cumulative residual entropy (WCRE). This is based on the cumulative residual entropy (CRE), which is introduced by Rao et al. (2004 Rao, M., Chen, Y., Vemuri, B.C., Wang, F. (2004). Cumulative residual entropy: a new measure of information. IEEE Trans. Info. Theory 50(6):12201228.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). This new information measure is “length-biased” shift dependent that assigns larger weights to larger values of random variable. The properties of WCRE and a formula relating WCRE and weighted Shannon entropy are given. Related studies of reliability theory is covered. Our results include inequalities and various bounds to the WCRE. Conditional WCRE and some of its properties are discussed. The empirical WCRE is proposed to estimate this new information measure. Finally, strong consistency and central limit theorem are provided.  相似文献

This paper treats the problem of stochastic comparisons for the extreme order statistics arising from heterogeneous beta distributions. Some sufficient conditions involved in majorization-type partial orders are provided for comparing the extreme order statistics in the sense of various magnitude orderings including the likelihood ratio order, the reversed hazard rate order, the usual stochastic order, and the usual multivariate stochastic order. The results established here strengthen and extend those including Kochar and Xu (2007 Kochar, S.C., Xu, M. (2007). Stochastic comparisons of parallel systems when components have proportional hazard rates. Probab. Eng. Inf. Sci. 21:597609.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), Mao and Hu (2010 Mao, T., Hu, T. (2010). Equivalent characterizations on orderings of order statistics and sample ranges. Probab. Eng. Inf. Sci. 24:245262.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), Balakrishnan et al. (2014 Balakrishnan, N., Barmalzan, G., Haidari, A. (2014). On usual multivariate stochastic ordering of order statistics from heterogeneous beta variables. J. Multivariate Anal. 127:147150.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), and Torrado (2015 Torrado, N. (2015). On magnitude orderings between smallest order statistics from heterogeneous beta distributions. J. Math. Anal. Appl. 426:824838.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). A real application in system assembly and some numerical examples are also presented to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

Some extensions of Shannon entropy to the survival function have been recently proposed. Misagh et al. (2011 Misagh, F., Panahi, Y., Yari, G.H., Shahi, R. (2011, September). Weighted cumulative entropy and its estimation. In: Quality and Reliability (ICQR), 2011, IEEE International conference (pp. 477480), IEEE.[Crossref] [Google Scholar]) introduced weighted cumulative residual entropy (WCRE) that was studied more by Mirali et al. (2015 Mirali, M., Baratpour, S., Fakoor, V. (2015). On weighted cumulative residual entropy. Commun. Stat. Theory Methods. doi:10.1080103610926.2015.1053932.[Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). In this article, the dynamic version of WCRE is proposed. Some relationships of this measure with well-known reliability measures and ageing classes are studied and some characterization results for exponential and Rayleigh distributions are provided. Also, a non parametric estimation of dynamic version of WCRE is introduced and its asymptotic behavior is investigated.  相似文献

This article considers the problem of variance estimation of a U-statistic. Following the proposal of a linearly extrapolated variance estimator in Wang and Chen (2015 Wang, Q., Chen, S. (2015). A general class of linearly extrapolated variance estimators. Stat. Probab. Lett. 98:2938.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), we consider a second-order extrapolation technique and devise a variance estimator that is nearly second-order unbiased. Simulation studies confirm that the second-order extrapolated variance estimator has smaller bias than the linearly extrapolated variance estimator and the jackknife variance estimator across a wide selection of distributions. In addition, the proposal also yields a smaller mean squared error than its counterparts. In the end, we discuss the advantages of the proposed variance estimator in regression analysis and model selection.  相似文献

This paper presents a new variable weight method, called the singular value decomposition (SVD) approach, for Kohonen competitive learning (KCL) algorithms based on the concept of Varshavsky et al. [18 R. Varshavsky, A. Gottlieb, M. Linial, and D. Horn, Novel unsupervised feature filtering of bilogical data, Bioinformatics 22 (2006), pp. 507513.[Crossref], [PubMed], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]]. Integrating the weighted fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm with KCL, in this paper, we propose a weighted fuzzy KCL (WFKCL) algorithm. The goal of the proposed WFKCL algorithm is to reduce the clustering error rate when data contain some noise variables. Compared with the k-means, FCM and KCL with existing variable-weight methods, the proposed WFKCL algorithm with the proposed SVD's weight method provides a better clustering performance based on the error rate criterion. Furthermore, the complexity of the proposed SVD's approach is less than Pal et al. [17 S.K. Pal, R.K. De, and J. Basak, Unsupervised feature evaluation: a neuro-fuzzy approach, IEEE. Trans.
