This paper summarizes the findings of an empirical study that utilized symbolic interaction theory as an underlying framework. It focused on a basic tenet of symbolic interaction theory which states that individuals take the role of significant others in order to pattern their responses to meet the expectations of these significant others. The central hypothesis inferred that there was a relationship between the students' cognitive reorganization of the meaning of certain social work concepts and the formal socialization process that they experience in a graduate school of social work. It was found that during the first semester of graduate study this did not exist.  相似文献

Despite the fact that coaching is since long time established as an instrument of human resources development for senior management development, especially in business and politics, there are still needs for clarification and support at the management level in the federal public services like the administration, justice and police. Target group of a scientifically monitored pilot project initiated by the formerLower Saxons University of applied Sciences for Administration and Judicature has been the middle management levels of administration, justice and police. In the following article the model of ??Cooperative Coaching?? is being introduced as well as selected project results. Moreover its compatibility with different company cultures will be discussed. This paper analyses mental blocks of female career development competence. Mental blocks haven??t been systematically investigated so far. Therefore it was first necessary to define mental blocks and to explain their origin based on the theory of mental interference. The contents and impacts of mental blocks then were examined in various steps. Firstly typical ??key situations?? of female careers were found by interviewing 21 mentors of career interested females. Secondly, a questionnaire to survey the impacts was developed, the questionnaire on mental blocks in special development related situations (QMB-S). It was tested on reliability and validity in two pilot studies. Finally, an intervention study (untreated waiting control group design, n?=?52) showed a significant reduction of mental blocks (QMB-S) and a significant decrease of stress and pressure (examined by the subscales of TICS).  相似文献

Abstract

A total of 242 university students seen in an outpatient mental health clinic were evaluated for symptom changes during treatment using both a self-report inventory and chart notations. Specific clusters of major presenting and major improving symptoms, based on combined frequency and severity measures, were obtained for each of the largest diagnostic groups. Self-rated improvement on major symptoms ranged from 81.8 to 88.4% for patients with anxiety neurosis, depressive neurosis, and adjustment reaction, while personality disorder patients reported 54.5% improvement. Chart-based overall improvement rates were uniformly lower (36.4 to 77.3%) than corresponding self-report figures for each diagnostic group. The extent to which chart-rated overall improvement correlated with self-rated improvement on specific symptoms was analyzed.  相似文献

In this article we characterise the well-being of young children in the Belgian region of Flanders. We focus on three commonly used indicators: educational attainment, the existence of special needs and the occurrence of problematic behaviour. The former derives from a relatively impartial source, the schooling system, while the latter two originate from parental assessment. Somewhat surprisingly, the different measures are only weakly associated with each other. Moreover, negative outcomes tend to correlate with different characteristics of the child and the household, depending on the well-being indicator used. Only a low level of education of the mother and the fact the child is living in a single parent family is consistently associated with negative outcomes. This is not true, however, for a whole range of other characteristics, like the work schedule of the parents, the sex of the child, the child’s rank in the line of siblings or the number of children in the household. Consequently, policy makers should be wary of quick conclusions when presented with results from single indicator research. Educational lagging, for example, may seem a very objective measure of problems, yet it does not necessarily coincide with problematic behaviour nor a parental perception of special needs. Hence, political action is not self-evident and may require additional justification. For future research, a more thorough investigation about the links between the various indicators of child well-being seems indicated.

This article studies how individual behavior is affected by moral reflection in a dictator game with production. We make individuals reflect on fairness, in a structured way, before they play the dictator game. Our results suggest that moral reflection not only increases the weight people attach to fairness in distributive choices, but also has a strong effect on what people consider fair. Furthermore, we study the informational value of self-reported data. We find that self-reported data have substantial informational value, but do not add explanatory power to a random utility model estimated on purely behavioral data. Finally, we study whether there is a self-serving bias in the participants’ fairness perceptions, but do not find much evidence of this phenomenon in the data.  相似文献
