The teaching case conference is suggested as one means of meeting the problem of the dependency of practice training on the quality of the practice placement. Some of the learning opportunities which these conferences provide are described, including the development of a capacity for collaborative work and for a multi-factorial approach. Examples are given of different methods of organizing the conferences and providing the teaching/facilitation of learning. When children are placed in residential treatment, a number of underlying messages are often conveyed: the child is the problem, the child's parents are the problem, and the treatment centre has the answers. Consequently children may feel rejected and parents may feel blamed. These views reflect lineal perspectives which have not been adequately addressed in the literature on residential treatment. The aim of residential treatment is to change the child's behaviour in ways which parents are unable to achieve at home. This paper proposes that the child who is placed in residential care may be caught between the parents and the treatment setting: if the child positively responds to treatment, parents could easily feel inadequate or incompetent, a dynamic which is obviously counter productive to successful treatment. The paper argues from Milan and other systemic views, that family and treatment systems be taken into consideration in planning treatment strategies.  相似文献

This study examined the sex role orientations endorsed by 188 male and female students majoring in computer science, a male‐dominated college degree program. The relations among sex role orientation and academic achievement and social cognitive factors influential in career decision‐making self‐efficacy were explored. Findings revealed that androgynous‐ and feminine‐oriented students scored significantly higher on career decision‐making self‐efficacy as compared with undifferentiated students. No significant sex role orientation differences were found for academic achievement and general and career locus of control.  相似文献

This paper suggests a new type of mixture regression model, in which each mixture component is explained by its own regressors. Thus, the dependent variable can be driven by one of several unobservable explanatory mechanisms, each of which has its own distinct variables. An extension of the simulated annealing algorithm is introduced to fit this general mixture model. The paper also suggests a new technique for estimating the covariance matrix of estimators in a mixture model. Finally, empirical studies of a labour supply example show that our proposed model can perform much better than conventional logistic or mixture models.  相似文献

The importance of awareness as to the motivation of the leader or teacher who is involved in affective group process is elaborated in this article. Differentiations are made between manipulation and teaching and therapy and education. The importance of “allowing” as a ground rule for groups is described along with a rationale for this which includes factors such as readiness and motivation. The integration of the affective and cognitive domains in the curriculum (confluent education) is touched on in relationship to the conscious use of affective process in the classroom. Finally, the existential condition of the “Now” is described as a significant factor for guiding the behavior of the leader or teacher.  相似文献
