Chapter 4: Research on the Integration of Employee Assistance,Work-Life and Wellness Services

SUMMARY

This article will focus on the research exploring the degree to which organizational integration of Employee Assistance, Work/Family and Wellness Programs has evolved since the early 1990s. The first study reviewed is the National Study of EAP and Work/Family Programs conducted in 1994 by Boston University's Center on Work and Family in which 100 of the top family friendly companies were inter viewed. Two major studies conducted under the guidance of the Employee Assistance Professional Association (EAPA) are then reviewed. The Phase I research conducted in 2001 was a large-scale survey of the professionals in fields of EAP and Work-life (N = 950). The Phase II research conducted in 2002 was comprised of two stages: A pilot study surveying vendors in the EAP and Work-life fields (N = 213) and a qualitative study consisting of in-depth interviews with vendors from all three professions (N = 79). The overall theme from this body of research is one of dramatically increasing movement and market demand for some form of collaboration/integration of service delivery. Finally, the chapter offers recommendations for further research regarding integration of services as well as implications for the professional fields.     

Can a Self-Regulation Skills and Cultural Arts Program Promote Positive Outcomes in Mental Health Symptoms and Academic Achievement for At-Risk Youth?

ABSTRACT

Self-regulation skills programs focusing on emotional regulation and executive functioning and arts programs have separately demonstrated reductions in internalizing and externalizing disorders and academic difficulties and have shown improvement in self-regulation skills. This study sought to evaluate participants in Prodigy (a program synthesizing arts and self-regulation skills) regarding changes in mental health symptoms and academic performance. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest was conducted with 108 at-risk adolescents and their parents. Significant reductions in internalizing and externalizing mental health symptoms and increases in academic self-efficacy with positive trends in improved academic achievement were noted. Future research regarding the potential of these two modalities is discussed.     

Geriatric Hospitals in India,Today and in the Future

Summary

HH's Volunteer Guild; its Diabetes Club, ever growing with India's dramatic rise in the number of diabetics; its Senior Net Club's Click@50, making elders computer savvy; and Grandparent-Grandchild and Golden and Silver Couple contests celebrated on October 1st, are all widely appreciated, enforcing strong values Indians still share on marriage and family. Heritage brings together 10,000 seniors in Hyderabad, strengthening its motto of Eastern philosophy with its strong emphasis on care for the elderly.

工业设计学生创新能力的培养已经成为教育界迫在眉睫的事情,不同的学校根据各自的办学特色都在探索不同的方法。本文依据自身的实践教学,重点探讨了跨区域教学交流对培养学生创新能力的影响。跨区域交流能够为师生提供一个良好的创新平台;通过这一平台,合理利用设计院校间的差异性能够扩大学生创新思维的广度、推进思维的深度,同时有利于各自设计课程体系的验证和修订。     

A comparison of risk transfer strategies for a portfolio of life annuities based on RORAC

This paper aims to compare different reinsurance arrangements in order to reduce the longevity and financial risk originated by a life insurer while managing a portfolio of annuities policies. Linear and nonlinear reinsurance strategies as well as swap like agreements are evaluated via a discrete-time actuarial risk model. Specifically, longevity dynamics are represented by Lee–Carter type models, while interest rate is modeled by Cox–Ingersoll–Ross model. The reinsurance strategies effectiveness is evaluated according to the Return on Risk Adjusted Capital under a ruin probability constrain.

在契约的基础上进行基于信任的伙伴关系维系管理是保证节点企业间融洽合作关系的有效策略之一.本文首先分析了供应链伙伴关系管理实践中需要注意的问题以及信任与供应链伙伴关系的内在联系;在供应商开发程序的基础上融入信任诊断、协商沟通和改进供应链伙伴关系提高绩效的过程,提出了一种基于信任诊断的供应链伙伴关系开发程序进行多层伙伴关系维系的方法,包括基于信任的伙伴关系诊断层、伙伴关系协商沟通层和伙伴关系修正层.最后给出了支持该方法不同组成元素的企业实际运作例证.

广告语的知识产权法保护涉及众多复杂的法律问题。字数的多少并非独创性的决定性因素,判断广告语是否具有独创性并受著作权法保护,应对广告语的创意和内容进行具体分析;广告语的核心功能虽然是商业宣传,但有些广告语具有固有显著性,或因使用而获得＂第二含义＂,具有识别功能,能够获得注册并受商标法保护;对广告语的抄袭、模仿还涉及竞争秩序和商业道德,反不正当竞争法保护广告语的类型和要件要结合权利人使用方式、侵权人的抄袭、模仿方式等进行综合判断。

以Fairelough关于广告语篇渗透化趋势的理论为基础，以部分英、汉汽车广告为例，着重分析广告语篇的诉求策略和语言手段，旨在构建广告语篇的渗透化模式，以阐释广告语篇中意识形态、权势和语言之间的复杂关系。

青藏地区有着丰富多彩的民族节日,这些节日在诞生之初都是原生态的,但随着时代的变迁这些节日逐步演变成集文化、商贸、旅游等于一体的开放性盛会.除了它原有的庆祝、娱乐或祭祀功能外,这些民族节日还通过人际、大众以及网络等对节日信息的传播而产生广告效应.这种广告效应具有双重性,因此在民族节日的宣传和报道中,应充分发挥其正面效用而尽量避免其负面影响,从而为青藏地区的经济、旅游及文化的健康发展服务.
