This paper discusses the development of public relations in a fast growing emerging country, United Arab Emirates. The making of the public relations profession in UAE has been affected tremendously by the socio-economic, educational and cultural development of the country. Ministries and government administrations established their in-house public relations departments and sections to respond to the growing demands of their various publics. Journalism and Mass Communication departments launched PR programs to meet the growing needs of the job market with qualified practitioners. International public relations agencies chose Dubai as a base for their activities in the UAE and the region. The future of public relations in the UAE is very promising. Although it is facing some problems, public relations is the job of the future.  相似文献

This paper uses a rich collection of household surveys to investigate the wage differential between the public and private sectors in 13 Latin American countries. It also studies how the sector of employment affects the gender wage gap. Contrary to what is commonly thought, it is found that, in the majority of Latin American countries, there is a premium associated with working in the public sector. It is also found that the premium is often higher for women than for men but that this difference does not compensate for the wide gender gap.  相似文献

国际金融危机以及欧债危机等再一次引发了人们对金融监管尤其是银行资本充足监管的全面反思。采集中国银行业主体的16家商业银行的数据,应用联立方程模型,对资本强制约束下的资本与系统风险贡献度进行研究,结论表明:资本充足监管对银行系统风险贡献度有一定的正向作用;而杠杆率监管对其无显著影响。此外,四大国有银行的分析结果提醒银行业监管者应密切关注居于主导地位银行的资本和风险监管。  相似文献

通过文献梳理比较,选择较为客观、科学的主成分分析法,并从盈利性、信贷风险、市场风险、流动性四个方面构建系统指标体系,实证测度我国2003年至2017年银行体系稳定性。研究发现,我国银行体系稳定性2003年以来呈倒"U"型态势,大致可分成两个阶段:一是2003年至2012年,随着系列金融改革的红利释放,各项指标逐步趋于好转,稳定性逐步上升,至2012年升至近年来最高水平;二是2013年至2017年,我国经济步入新常态,"三期叠加"矛盾凸显,金融体系稳定性有所下降,防范化解金融风险仍是当前金融工作的重点。  相似文献

改革开放以来,中国银行业以市场化为导向的改革在稳步推进,特别是“十二五”时期,改革步伐明显加快。采用利率市场化、信贷控制、市场准入壁垒和银行业治理四大类指标,运用主成分赋权法,以每一个五年规划为时间段,对中国1981年到2015年间银行业的市场化进程进行了度量。度量发现中国银行业的市场化进程以脉冲方式向前推进,如果按市场化制度安排为主要赋值依据,“十二五”末期,中国的银行业市场化程度已经达到了88.7435的分值,银行业市场化已经进入了后半程。  相似文献

Despite decades of efforts to achieve gender equality in research and innovation (R&I), all EU member states still face remarkable difficulties in driving forward the development of their innovation system while at the same time improving gender equality by using all the available research potential. In this paper we focus on the development of the share of women researchers in four national innovation systems, i.e. in Austria, Denmark, Hungary and Spain in the time period 2005-2015. The four selected cases represent countries with significant differences in their innovation capacity, gender regimes and progress of gender equality in R&I. A qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) is carried out to conduct a sector program evaluation based on statistical data and qualitative studies to understand the dynamic development of the proportion of women researchers. The study aims to provide insights into the aggregated gender equality interventions and policies implemented in the four countries studied and their contributions to the development of the proportion of women scientists at the structural level. The analysis reveals that the development of the share of women researchers during the studied period has been particularly influenced by contextual factors, namely the relative size of the business enterprise sector and the share of women among holders of tertiary education. While this is the case, it is found that gender equality interventions need to be more widespread and more effectively designed to be a strong contributing factor to an increasing representation of women in R&I.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

With a history of almost 90 years, professional social work in Romania once flourished up until World War II. The Communist Party disbanded the profession in 1968 and it was reinstated after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989. Within the context of the socio-economic transition from a centralised to a free-market economy, Romanian social policy and social work have evolved from a Marxist/socialist-type ideology, one that advocates for state intervention, to a libertarian/neo-liberal-type ideology, which promotes both state withdrawal from welfare provision and individuals taking responsibility for their own welfare. These two trends continue to co-exist subject to sometimes divergent forces such as international institutions and internal Romanian social pressures. Using a qualitative approach, we explore how Romanian social workers are adapting to the neo-liberal realities and identify three types of perceived challenges: 1. those related to regulation, 2. linked with collaboration in social work activity and 3. those related to the social worker-client relationship. Under neo-liberal pressures, the social worker's role of agent of social change becomes marginalised in daily practice, leaving little power to influence agency policies that negatively impact clients.  相似文献

How do the politics of agenda setting and policy adoption operate in the arena of healthcare reform in the industrializing world? Literature on the twenty‐first‐century developmental state emphasizes the role of democratic competition and civil society in causing political parties to take up new agendas, while power resources theory stresses the role of left‐wing political parties and labor unions in policy adoption. Yet, core tenets of these theories have not been considered extensively in light of dynamics in the industrializing world. This article examines the politics of policy adoption in countries that have recently aimed to provide healthcare access and financial protection to the poor and people in the informal sector in Mexico and Turkey. In line with literature on the twenty‐first‐century developmental state, we find democratic competition to play an important role in causing political parties to take up new agendas. However, examination of the cases illuminates surprising dynamics that challenge important elements of sociological theory: right‐leaning political parties played important roles in adoption, while labor unions and left‐wing parties oppose reform in the cases. Public health‐minded physicians leading change teams played important roles in agenda setting and leading the process of implementation.  相似文献
