Geometric ergodicity of nonlinear autoregressive models with changing conditional variances

The authors give easy‐to‐check sufficient conditions for the geometric ergodicity and the finiteness of the moments of a random process x_t = ?(x_t‐1,…, x_t‐p) + ?_tσ(x_t‐1,…, x_t‐q) in which ?: R^p → R, σ R^q → R and (?_t) is a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables. They deduce strong mixing properties for this class of nonlinear autoregressive models with changing conditional variances which includes, among others, the ARCH(p), the AR(p)‐ARCH(p), and the double‐threshold autoregressive models.     

Double Sampling Ratio-product Estimator of a Finite Population Mean in Sample Surveys

It is well known that two-phase (or double) sampling is of significant use in practice when the population parameter(s) (say, population mean X¯) of the auxiliary variate x is not known. Keeping this in view, we have suggested a class of ratio-product estimators in two-phase sampling with its properties. The asymptotically optimum estimators (AOEs) in the class are identified in two different cases with their variances. Conditions for the proposed estimator to be more efficient than the two-phase sampling ratio, product and mean per unit estimator are investigated. Comparison with single phase sampling is also discussed. An empirical study is carried out to demonstrate the efficiency of the suggested estimator over conventional estimators.

新词语不断增加,计算机处理真实文本时不可避免地要面对大量的未登录词。本文认为,从词典中的已登录词出发,描写每个单字的构词属性,如构词时的位置、能产的构词模式、处于不同位置的单字构词时对另一个构词成分在句法和语义上的要求、组合以后的意义理解模式等,有助于计算机准确地识别和理解未登录词。     

Infinite Parameter Estimates in Logistic Regression, with Application to Approximate Conditional Inference

This paper discusses recovery of information regarding logistic regression parameters in cases when maximum likelihood estimates of some parameters are infinite. An algorithm for detecting such cases and characterizing the divergence of the parameter estimates is presented. A method for fitting the remaining parameters is also presented . All of these methods rely only on sufficient statistics rather than less aggregated quantities, as required for inference according to the method of Kolassa & Tanner (1994). These results are applied to approximate conditional inference via saddlepoint methods. Specifically, the double saddlepoint method of Skovgaard (1987) is adapted to the case when the solution to the saddlepoint equations exists as a point at infinity
