Havelock Ellis's Literary Criticism,Canon Formation,and the Heterosexual Shakespeare

Famous as the author of an early full-length scientific study of sexual inversion or homosexuality, English sexologist Havelock Ellis was also a literary critic responsible for initiating publication of the famous Mermaid Series of “The Best of Plays of the Old Dramatists” in the late-nineteenth century. Personally editing the first volume of plays by Christopher Marlowe and a later collection by tragedian John Ford, Ellis associated these playwrights here and in his scientific work, Sexual Inversion, with ideas about normative and so-called abnormal sexualities at the start of the twentieth century. Ellis, thus, helped give expression to a literary canon of early English dramatists in which modern, anachronistic ideas about sexual subjectivity play a part. While this article does not claim that Ellis was the necessary source for later criticism, it shows how, over the whole of the twentieth century, Shakespeare's priority in the literary canon came to be posited at least in part on his apparent sexual normality in contrast with a supposedly homosexual Christopher Marlowe and other playwrights such as Ford or Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher associated with varying degrees of sexual difference.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article is to derive rigorously some results following from conditional characteristic functions and anticipate that they will prove to be of significant applicability. Specifically, Khintchine weak law of large numbers, Lévy central limit theorem, inversion theorem, uniqueness theorem, characterization of identical distribution, and characterization of independence are all generalized to conditional setup.

Simulations and computations of nonparametric density estimates for the deconvolution problem

The nonparametric density function estimation using sample observations which are contaminated with random noise is studied. The particular form of contamination under consideration is Y = X + Z, where Y is an observable random variableZ is a random noise variable with known distribution, and X is an absolutely continuous random variable which cannot be observed directly. The finite sample size performance of a strongly consistent estimator for the density function of the random variable X is illustrated for different distributions. The estimator uses Fourier and kernel function estimation techniques and allows the user to choose constants which relate to bandwidth windows and limits on integration and which greatly affect the appearance and properties of the estimates. Numerical techniques for computation of the estimated densities and for optimal selection of the constant are given.

认同与倒置——当代小说中职业女性性别突围的两种悲剧

2 0世纪 60年代以来相对宽松的后现代语境 ,为妇女解放运动带来了新契机 ,职业女性作为妇女解放新阶段的排头兵 ,开始尝试新一轮的性别突围。当代女性主义小说对此作出迅速反映 ,深刻揭示了职业女性不论是采取对男权法则认同的手段 ,还是妄想颠倒男权法则中的性别位置 ,都以悲剧结束的客观现实 ,从而表现了女性突围的艰难。     

阿尔都塞对黑格尔内容形式关系的修改

在黑格尔哲学体系中,内容和形式的关系是“内容决定形式,形式反作用于内容”。阿尔都塞在《论黑格尔思想中的内容概念》批判黑格尔的绝对整体性的内容是不存在的,并发现黑格尔颠倒了西方哲学史上传统的内容和形式的关系。他将被黑格尔弄颠倒了的传统的内容和形式的关系恢复到传统状态,为其后来“结构性因果关系”的提出奠定了理论基础。     

“人口倒挂”混居村的自治组织边界重建

当前,以新生代农民工为主的流动人口大量聚居于长三角、珠三角城郊,形成了不少“人口倒挂”的混居村。相对稳定的租住关系重塑了农村传统意义上的“邻里”和共同体边界,也不断凸显混居村的治理困境。具体表现为,原有以村籍为基础的成员资格获取、村级组织方式和自治逻辑与混居后的村务治理范围不相匹配。通过对浙江嘉善Y村村务协商议事会的微观考察,发现Y村议事协商会与“以外管外”传统理念不同,它通过“再组织”的方式建立议事协商平台,重构了混居村的横向关系,从而促进新老成员融合和混居村的村级治理。基于Y村案例启示,为实现新组织平台与村级权力结构的衔接,还需进一步打破经社组织重叠架构,从重塑自治组织边界的角度为外地人获取成员资格、参与村务治理提供正式通道,真正实现混居村的治理转型。

在对《侵权责任法》第66条进行分析解释的基础上,结合环境侵权责任的特殊性,论证传统举证责任规则的问题所在,提出因果关系推定规则的必要性与可行性,进而从理论层面到实践层面的细化方面来规范举证责任分配规则。
