Manipulative field experiments were performed in a northern Japanese deciduous forest to determine the role of avian predation in the survival of three leaf-rolling lepidopterous larvae (Homonopsis foedenratana, Archips viola, and Zeiraphera corpulentana) on Japanese lilac (Syringa reticulata) trees. When all leaf rolls on the lilacs were experimentally removed, the visitation rate of birds declined, indicating that the leaf rolls served as a visual cue for the birds. In a second experiment in which birds were excluded from the lilac trees, the survival of H. foedenratana larvae was improved, whereas the mortality of the other two Lepidoptera stayed the same. This is probably the result of differences in the shape of leaf rolls; larvae of H. foedenratana alter the leaf form to a greater extent, which may facilitate the detection of the rolls by birds. The high predation rate on the tight leaf rolls of H. foedenratana may be offset by enhanced resistance against other predators and better food quality for the enclosed larvae. This article examines the production and promotion of A&;E's Rollergirls (2006), a US docu-soap featuring the Texas Roller Derby Lonestar Rollergirls (TXRD), the league that revived roller derby as a sport for female amateurs. Focusing on the representation of TXRD skaters in Rollergirls, as well as A&;E's promotional campaign for the series, this analysis is contextualized in relation to the role of female athleticism in contemporary US commercial culture. Relying on practices long used to trivialize women sports figures, Rollergirls' portrayals of TXRD skaters suggest ambivalence towards female athleticism as well as a desire to contain the gender-bent and sexually agential performances at the heart of women's roller derby. In addition to revealing the challenges television producers face in the representation of female athletes and other nonconformist women, the research offered here hopes to expand feminist television criticism beyond its conventional focus on fictional texts while also broadening feminist studies of sports media, which have centered primarily on news coverage.  相似文献

Abstract

Objective: This study examined the effect of brief functional relaxation (FR) training on needle anxiety (NA) during vaccinations. Participants: From October 2010 through May 2012, 48 undergraduates were recruited through the psychology research participant pool. Methods: Students (N = 48) were randomly assigned to a 15-minute brief FR session delivered via MP3 player or a standard care condition (15 minutes of sitting quietly) prior to receiving injections at the immunization clinic. Measures were completed before (T1) and after (T2) the assigned condition, assessing expected NA, state anxiety, blood pressure, and heart rate; and after the injection (T3), self-reported NA during the injection. Results: Unexpectedly, the groups did not differ at T2. However, during the injection, brief FR participants indicated lower self-reported NA (T3) than standard care. Conclusions: Brief FR is a simple, inexpensive technique that may reduce NA in college health settings and help decrease delays in treatment seeking.  相似文献

圆柱滚子是轴承的重要组件,随着对设备仪器性能的要求不断提高,对圆柱滚子的精度和一致性要求也越来越 高。文章分析行星式双平面研磨方式下磨料粒度、研磨盘转速、夹具孔偏角对圆柱滚子的加工精度的影响情况。文中首 先基于正交实验设计了标准的L9(34)正交表,并严格按照正交表中的实验序号进行了圆柱滚子的加工实验,然后采用 信噪比和ANOVA方差法对加工结果进行数据分析,最终获得了参数的最优组合。根据优化的研磨条件进行加工,结果 显示圆柱滚子的圆度、直线度以及平行度均达到了1μm以下,优化效果显著。  相似文献

由于滑槽座导轨副的配合间隙等原因的存在,使得通过刚性连接柱传给工业缝纫机针杆的作用力造成其运动方 向偏移。设计了一种工业缝纫机气浮针杆的柔性联接装置,采用柔性铰链弹性变形产生微小角位移来非平行输出微位 移,用以减弱滑决受到刚性干扰传递给针杆而造成的运动影响,运用ANSYS对其变形及强度进行了校核与分析。结果 表明:ANSYS分析结果与理论设计计算对比验证了设计结构与强度的合理性;该柔性联接装置结构简单,定位精度高, 可以有效地解决刚性传递的干扰,实现精密微位移定位,为今后精密微位移机构的研究提供了很好的研究方法和指导。  相似文献
