Loneliness and the use of social media to follow celebrities: A moderating role of social presence

Because social media provide users with the possibility of an easy way to communicate with celebrities in society, it has become a more common practice to follow celebrities through social media. However, there exists few studies that examine how people’s individual characteristics are related to their celebrity-following behavior. In this regard, the current study examines whether celebrity followers’ loneliness is associated with the following behavior of their favorite celebrity. Data were collected through an online survey (N = 210). Primary findings suggest that celebrity followers’ loneliness is positively related to frequent visits of their favorite celebrity’s social media, greater social-interpersonal motive for following the celebrity, and greater enjoyment of learning about personal life stories of the celebrity. Social presence is found to be a significant moderator that can intensify more favorable parasocial relationship perceptions with the celebrity.

Everyday presences

The everyday is often seen as the time when nothing happens. This is a view that follows from a sense of chronological time, Euclidean space and Hegelian identity-play. The everyday can also be experienced as the time of eternity, the space of infinitude and the ontological condition of love. This epiphanic experience of the sacred is not of a release from the everyday but a return to it. The sacred is not the exception to the everyday but the ground of our everyday belonging to the universe.     

On not really being there: trans* presence/absence in Dallas Buyers Club

Recently more trans characters, even as main protagonists, star in film and media representations, perhaps in tandem with an increased recognition of trans rights globally. In this article we argue that the visual and aural grammars of cinema perform a double movement of inclusion and elision, making for a fascinating if utterly frustrating uptake of trans presence that is at once, perforce, also an absence. Our case study of the Rayon character in Dallas Buyers Club is an example of a recent sexualized representation of trans femininity. Our textual analysis will deconstruct this character’s presence and absence on the level of the film’s aesthetical and technical aspects demonstrating how cinematic grammar implicates cisgenderism.

这是2005年11月桂林全国辩证逻辑讨论会会议论文的后两部分(共四部分);前两部分以"悖论与自指"为题发表于《安徽大学学报(哲学社会科学版)》2007年第2期。悖论及悖论性错误的直接原因是认为语句可以自我指称,而语句自指是不可能的。我们之所以认为语句自指可能,就是因为我们对语言的"当下、即时"这一重要性质缺乏理解所导致的某种混淆;这才是悖论及悖论性错误的根源所在。     

论律师在场权

了解律师在场权制度的概念以及国外立法概况,并在此基础上论述律师在场权制度在刑事诉讼中的价值取向,探讨律师在场权制度的设置、实现和保障机制,对我国的刑事诉讼立法是有益而必要的。     

我国律师在场权构建的必要性与可行性

当前，无论是大陆法系还是英美法系，律师在场权作为刑事司法文明进步的体现，都得到逐步确立和实施，而我国现行立法和司法实践在这方面尚处在空白状态，只是停留在理论研究层面。随着我国律师法和新刑诉法的制定和适用，人权保障理念和扩大辩护权思想逐步成熟，法治环境得到进一步改善，笔者认为初步构建我国律师在场权的条件已经逐渐成熟，具有其必要性和可行性。     

A Preliminary Comparison of Online and Face-to-Face Process Groups

The outcomes of student-led, student-participant experiences in both Google Hangout and face-to-face groups in graduate-level counseling courses are compared using process- and experience-oriented measures. Overall, participants assessed face-to-face groups as superior on measures of presence, cohesiveness, safety, and delivery method. Implications for the counseling field are discussed.

本文以一个西北乡村社区为个案,阐释了国家力量在社区事务、社区变迁和社区权力分配中的特殊影响.而随着民间力量的重新崛起,今后一段时间的发展趋势是国家力量与民间社会达成一定程度上的共谋.     

德里达解构思想对文学理论的不洽适性

"在场"和"隐喻"既是文学理论的基本概念,也是德里达解构思想的两个主题.德里达对这两个概念的兴趣来自于他独特的哲学关注点,他把它们看作形而上学幻觉的发源地,关注它们的定性;文学则完全不关心纯粹的在场和隐喻是否可能,也不关心它们的定性,而只关心怎么把在场和隐喻游戏做好.两者的裂痕表明了德里达解构理论对文学理论的不洽适性,看来,并不存在把一种以哲学为旨趣的理论应用到文学研究的直接通道.由此可见,我国文艺学界应对将德里达的概念和理论直接用于文学批评的做法进行检讨.
