This article explores the relationship between boundary ambiguity and borderline personality traits in adolescent girls in foster care. Boundary ambiguity is a family systems concept: family members are uncertain about who is in or out of the family—in either psychological or physical presence or absence. In foster care, it can be assumed that an adolescent girl has experienced trauma significant enough to be removed from her family. The connection between early childhood trauma and attachment disruption in addition to the connection between insecure/disorganized attachment and borderline personality disorder leads to the conclusion that these same adolescents are at high risk for developing borderline personality traits. The sample consists of 40 caseworkers from New England’s child protection departments and therapists from residential programs working with adolescent girls. They completed the Shedler-Westen Assessment Procedure for Adolescents to determine the presence of personality disruption as well as a variation of Pauline Boss’s Boundary Ambiguity Scale #1, and demographic questionnaires. The results find a significant correlation between boundary ambiguity and borderline personality traits. Measures of pregnancy intervals are reported for data from the 1975 National Fertility Study in the United States. The structure of such intervals is aggregated into its components by planning status. A measurement model is devised to infer from a survival function some dimensions of the initial distribution of respondents by propensity to experience the event in question. It is adaptable to the study of reproductive intention as well as fecundability and contraceptive effectiveness. The model is applied to the study of the dependence of such behaviour in a given interval on the planning status of the previous pregnancy. Planning status is sequentially well-ordered. Those previously successful with contraceptive use are less likely to fail than those who had previously failed; those who had previously used contraception, whether successful or not, are less likely to fail than those who had not previously used. The credibility of the findings is prejudiced less by the form of model than by the reliability of the basic data. 相似文献

This paper analyses if individual coping strategies explain heterogeneous effects of participation in active labour market programs (ALMPs) on reemployment probabilities for the unemployed. I use survey data linked with administrative data from Statistics Denmark and focus on respondents who are unemployed or participating in ALMPs (n = 1310). To account for selection bias I analyse the data with a mixed logit model. I find that the coping strategies displayed by the unemployed persons explain heterogeneous effects of participation in ALMPs. 相似文献

北宋“翰林图画院”是皇家御用画院,这种“御用”的特性,决定了它的绘画有着自身的创作特性,这在题材上,表现为“院画题材的确定性”和“合乎赵宋统治阶级政教需要的特性”。在画风上,则表现为“院画创作讲究对传统画风的继承和对画院本身所确立的‘体制’画风的师承”以及“院画的创作要合乎皇室宫廷的审美趣味”。上述创作特性在一定程度上限制或泯灭了院画家的创作个性。但是,我们也不能不加分析地一概否定,尤其是在北宋徽宗朝,院画家“竭尽精力,以副上意”,就等于是在探索和完善着新的院画“体制”--“宣和体”画风。 相似文献

The role of the “Big Five” personality traits in driving welfare state attitudes has received scant attention in social policy research. Yet neuroticism in particular—a disposition to stress, worry, and get nervous easily—is theoretically likely to be an important driver of welfare attitudes precisely because welfare states deliver social “security” and “safety” nets. Using cross-sectional data from the German Socio-Economic Panel, we study three distinct attitude types (dissatisfaction with the social security system, feelings of personal financial insecurity, and preferences for state provision) and multiple social need contexts (including unemployment, ill health, old age, and nursing care). Controlling for established explanations such as self-interest, partisanship, and socialization, neuroticism does not systematically affect support for state provision. But it robustly increases general dissatisfaction with social security, as well as financial insecurity across various need contexts. Neurotic people are thus less happy with welfare state programmes across the board, yet they also appear to need these programmes more.
