A surplus process involving a compound Poisson counting process and applications

Abstract

In this paper, we introduce a surplus process involving a compound Poisson counting process, which is a generalization of the classical ruin model where the claim-counting process is a homogeneous Poisson process. The incentive is to model batch arrival of claims using a counting process that is based on a compound distribution. This reduces the difficulty of modeling claim amounts and is consistent with industrial data. Recursive formula, some properties and relevant main ruin theory results are provided. Further, we consider applications involving zero-truncated negative binomial and zero-truncated binomial batch arrivals when the claim amounts follow exponential or Erlang distribution.

《出三藏记集》记载了我国东汉至南朝齐梁年间的佛经翻译情况，是佛经翻译史研究的重要史料。《记集》从四个方面记录了这一时期的翻译思想和实践：僧祐从语言学和文艺学的角度对翻译的看法；译经僧们多用“出”表示翻译；佛经翻译原文多为胡本；译场的基本结构已经确定。

刘智作为明末清初的著名汉文译著家,他的翻译、介绍和著述充满了时代的创新性、开创性.刘智译著中哲学思想的丰富来源于他对伊斯兰哲学和思想的深刻学习和理解,更得益于他对中国传统哲学的悉心了解和系统掌握.其中,刘智对伊斯兰教哲学史上著名的哲学家、思想家和诗人阿布德·热哈曼·贾米(Abd al-Rahman Jami,伊历817-898年,1414-1492)的<勒瓦一合>(Lawa'ih)的译介,以<真境昭微>而著名,并反映了刘智译介过程中的创造性特征.<真境昭微>既忠实于原著,又以中国穆斯林的聪明才智超越了原文的文本,进行了汉语语境中的创造性表述和中国哲学范畴的恰当转化,从而以汉语的话语更直观地体现了伊斯兰哲学,特别是伊斯兰苏非哲学思想中"存在统一论"思想,以及苏非追求和实践自我超越和心灵升华的理想境界.在中国伊斯兰哲学、伊斯兰思想史上具有重要的理论价值和现实意义,也更好地体现了伊斯兰哲学和中国哲学的交流和融通,是人类智慧和思想间相互学习、理解、交流和对话的一幅历史风景画.     

Inhomogeneous Markov Chains and Ergodicity Coefficients: John Hajnal (1924–2008)

In 1958, a paper by John Hajnal, a demographer and mathematical statistician, was fundamental in the revival of the theory of inhomogeneous Markov chains. Hajnal made his contribution by the development of tools for the analysis of weak ergodicity, and proofs of fundamental theorems. This article reviews Hajnal's career, and then focuses on the four topics: 1. ergodicity coefficients and the weak ergodicity theorem; 2. scrambling matrices; 3. the coupling theorem; and 4. non-negative matrix products. Related work by other authors, especially Wolfgang Doeblin, is mentioned in context. Attention is given to some recent surveys and applications of ergodicity coefficients, including the Google matrix.     

试析林纾在《黑奴吁天录》中的变译

在《黑奴吁天录》中采用变译法主要由译者和读者两个因素决定,林纾通过采用阐译、缩译和改译三种变译,保持了译文信息的忠实、美学的忠实、语用功能的忠实和效果的忠实.变译的运用使译文创造性地忠实于原文,实现了忠诚原则与跨文化信息的有效传递.     

从翻译目的论看儿童文学翻译--以Charlotte’s Web的两个中译本为例

“翻译目的论”为翻译研究提供了新的视角。以目的论为理论依据，对《夏洛的网》的两个中文译本进行的对比分析．旨在引起学者对儿童文学翻译的关注和重视。该研究发现，这两个译本都非尽善尽美。在翻译活动中，译者应在理解儿童文学特殊性的基础上进行翻译，努力提高儿童文学翻译作品的质量，进而更好地服务儿童。     

Improved approaches to interval estimation of effective doses for a logistic dose-response curve

Asymptotic confidence (delta) intervals and intervals based upon the use of Fieller's theorem are alternative methods for constructing intervals for the <$>\gamma<$>% effective doses (ED<$>_\gamma<$>). Sitter and Wu (1993) provided a comparison of the two approaches for the ED<$>_{50}<$>, for the case in which a logistic dose response curve is assumed. They showed that the Fieller intervals are generally superior. In this paper, we introduce two new families of intervals, both of which include the delta and Fieller intervals as special cases. In addition we consider interval estimation of the ED<$>_{90}<$> as well as the ED<$>_{50}<$>. We provide a comparison of the various methods for the problem of constructing a confidence interval for the ED<$>_\gamma<$>.

通过对功能主义翻译目的论提出的文献型翻译和工具型翻译进行阐释,结合林语堂Moment in Peking《京华烟云》中社会文化因素的翻译策略,比较这两种翻译策略在文化传播中的作用。指出以传播中国文化为目的时,译者宜主要采用文献型翻译;以提高译文在西方读者中的可读性为目的时,宜主要采用工具型翻译。     

中国传统翻译理论的四大标准体系

翻译标准是贯穿我国漫长翻译史的一大主题。关于翻译标准的探索可以追溯到道安的五失本,此后魏象乾提出正译,马建忠提出善译,直至严复提出信达雅的翻译标准。四大翻译标准体系体现了我国古代翻译家的翻译智慧,是我国传统翻译理论、也是世界翻译理论的重要组成部分。
