The effect of media sexism on women’s political ambition: evidence from a worldwide study

This paper presents results from one of the first global studies on the relationship between media sexism and the share of candidates for the lower chamber of national parliaments who are women. Data on media sexism come from the Global Media Monitoring Project, the most reliable worldwide source for media coverage from a gender perspective. The data on share of female political candidates come from the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The results show that that there is, even when controlling for the number of women in parliament, electoral system, gender quotas, level of human development, level of women’s rights, freedom from corruption, and media access, a significant relationship between media sexism—measured as (i) the share of all news subjects that are women and (ii) the share of all news subjects portrayed in the function of experts who are women—and the share of women candidates for parliament: the higher the level of media sexism, the lower the share of women candidates. The theory discussed zooms in on a bystander effect: We hypothesize that sexist portrayals of women in the media stifle ambition among women who, in a less sexist media environment, would be willing to stand as political candidates.

美国为期十年的“未来师资培训计划”不仅成功地提高了未来高校教师——博士们的教学能力和职业适应力,还凸显出鲜明的特点：目标明确,定位适当;多方组织,双边参与;内容丰富,形式灵活;模式多样,过程连续;经费来源多渠道性。这对优化我国博士生培养制度、强化博士生对教学的关注、提高教育质量具有重要的借鉴意义。     

‘They were constantly on the losing side of things’: the pedagogical power of an African-American teacher candidate bearing witness in teacher education

The stories of students and teacher candidates of Color (Just as singular racial/ethnic identities are capitalized (i.e. African-American, Asian, Latina, Native American etc.), I capitalize Color to honor the various identities that many ‘non-white’ people hold near and dear. I recognize the nuances in doing so- such as the reality that the term ‘people of Color’ actually erases identity while the term also highlights a shared experience (though also nuanced) of being ‘non-white’ in a white supremacist society.) hold powerful lessons and insights for teacher education programs and educational reform efforts. Yet, rarely do educators and policy-makers solicit or critically engage the educational narratives of these stakeholders. In particular, research confirms that we know little about how students’ of Color educational experiences are impacted by race(ism) and culture and how those experiences subsequently inform their ideas about teaching. This study, framed by critical race theory (CRT), examines an African-American (African-American is used intentionally here as this is how Ariel identifies racially.) teacher candidate’s racialized K-12 and postsecondary school experiences to more fully understand the connection between lived experience and developing teacher identity. Ariel’s story reflects her own school experiences; her focus on her peers’ school experiences when asked about her own; and how those experiences, informed by race and culture, contribute to her development of pedagogy. Analytical considerations illustrate that memory and remembrance, witnessing and bearing witness, and testimony are deliberate and powerful acts in the development of pedagogy and should be central to teacher education curriculum.     

对我校硕士英语课程教学改革的思考

本着＂以学生为本＂和＂学以致用＂的教学理念,南京医科大学外国语学院硕士研究生英语课程在课程设置、教学内容、教学手段和考核方式等方面进行了一系列的改革,目的是使研究生的英语学习做到学有所用,培养他们运用语言的能力。改革取得了一定成绩,建议加强教材建设、构建网络教学平台来进一步推进改革,以取得最佳的教学效果。     

明代南直隶各府举人的地理分布

明代南直隶大致包括今天的江苏省、安徽省和上海市，明代南直隶举人人数是明代各大政区的举人人数中最多的。本文通过辑录和考订相关文献，获得了明代南直隶举人的籍贯信息。对举人籍贯按府进行统计后发现，明代南直隶举人分布集中，主要分布于苏州、常州、应天、松江、徽州、扬州6府，此6府的举人中式率较高。而南直隶各府举人人数的多寡，与各府的属县数没有关联。     

适应新形势，实现新要求——合肥工业大学非英语专业博士生英语教改与实践

针对合肥工业大学非英语专业博士生教学时数大幅度减少的现状，提出博士生英语教学应以国际学术交流英语为中心，并展开博士生英语教学改革尝试及实效性研究，以期促进博士生使用英语进行国际学术交流，从而实现其科研创新能力不断提升的教学基本目标。     

我校本科生四、六级英语考试和考研英语成绩的调查分析

文章对近年来广东工业大学本科生四、六级全国英语统考和考研英语成绩作了统计分析 ,在此基础上提出了改进我校大学英语教学的几点建议     

完善选举制度推进民主进程--直接选举中对代表候选人介绍方式的改革

选举制度是民主政治制度中的一项重要内容 ,也是民主的保证。人大代表的选举是公民行使民主权利的主要途径与方式。本文针对现行选举法在介绍代表候选人方式上存在的欠缺 ,提出了改革的意见 ,以促进选举制度的完善 ,切实保障人民民主权利的实现。     

基层党组织有限介入：农村社区“两委”候选人的当选逻辑——基于政策文本分析

作为农村社区“两委”换届选举的关键步骤,农村社区“两委”候选人的产生备受关注。借助街道党组织社区“两委”候选人换届政策文本,勾勒出社区“两委”候选人在基层党组织设定的双重候选条件下的当选逻辑,并以fs-QCA定性比较分析法对社区“两委”候选人胜出资质进行检验。结果显示,良好群众基础是潜在候选胜出的必要条件,同时具备群众基础和政绩两要素是潜在候选人胜出的有效途径;仅凭借经济实力或宗族势力等资源禀赋并不能使其成为“两委”正式候选人;街道组织部门受政治稳定逻辑驱使,往往采取多样化策略减少社区选举“变数”。因此,基层党组织对农村社区“两委”选举过程的有限介入并非有损基层民主质量,相反,它使农村社区选举表现出有别于乡村选举的优良特质。
