Hearts of Steel

This article looks at the way Arab male and female journalists in pan-Arab media negotiate their journalistic ethics with the aim of boosting their professional image while adding credibility to their news. Drawing on several examples of these male and female journalists, I seek to show how women adopt an un-emotional style when reporting news of pain and suffering, while male journalists emotionally engage with this type of news. The analysis draws on extensive interviews with male and female Arab journalists in pan-Arab media which are scattered inside and outside the Arab region. The discussion is informed by the current debate around detachment versus attachment in news reporting as well as the feminist media debate about the distinction between feminine and masculine values in mediating suffering.     

Little naked pangs of the self: the real performance of the self and the function of trust in Goffman's action theory

The aim of this article is to discuss some of the leading features of Erving Goffman's action theory as an alternative to the ‘orthodox’ paradigms of sociology, viewed as a structuralist and functionalist science that defines social constructs by their shared rules and values, and as a drifting of action, in the sense of intention, toward an individualistic version. The author examines Goffman's shift of the focus of attention from the boundaries of a social sense of action to the social dialectic of ‘defining a situation’ (W. Thomas) as conducted by the social actors in a renewal of Simmel's ‘empowering covenants’ (wechselwirkung) in the multiple casual social connections that make up the ‘social buzz’ in a society. The author moreover discusses Goffman's action as a kind of playacting regulating cognitive and expressive face-to-face ‘traffic’ between the social actors. This relational dynamic creates an interactive play based on encounters – in which one's opening to another is fraught with risks of deception – regulated by trust as a central resource for social interactions. Trust, in its interpersonal and systemic variants, constitutes a universal social datum and an elementary precondition for social exchanges and the cooperation between individuals. Trust, thus, functions as comparer between reciprocal expectations and a regulator of freedom tending to the stability of the social system.     

盘古之根在中华——驳盘古神话“外来”

本文首先引证大量材料指出，完整的盘古神话记载虽然见于三国时的徐整，但其内容因子先秦两汉的文献早有记载；进而结合大量的文献民俗材料说明早在佛教传入之前盘古神话已在中华大地广为流传；再后指出远古时代的华夏大地是产生盘古神话的生活土壤，“外来”说只对材料进行简单的对比和推论，缺乏辩证的和综合的分析，在研究方法上并不可取

作家的理论主张与作品实际往往不一致。在批评方法上 ,如果仅仅以作家的理论主张阐释其作品 ,或在作品中寻找一些例证印证作者的理论 ,势必造成某些误读 ,忽略了创作主体与创作过程之间的复杂性。汪曾祺对小说创作的审美主张是“真实”与“和谐” ,实际上其作品在大量“真实”的背后 ,还有长期被掩盖的“失真” ,在被认为“和谐”的旋律中 ,还有不和谐的音符     

高师生理学实验脱节现象的研究

针对高师生理学实验课内容与理论内容、高师培养目标和学科发展水平脱节现象，提出了应根据现有条件，适当融合一些现代生理学新理论，增加一些新项目和在原实验基础上增补一些现代的实验内容，以拓宽知识面，突出师范性，增强学术性。     

关于佛道儒的“宗教超越性”问题

“超越性”问题不仅是宗教学、也是哲学上的一个重大基本问题。本文试图根据我们对“超越”的一般界定, 对佛教、道教和“儒教”各自的超越方式进行了说明。佛教徒的超脱或者“超越”是一种对经验存在的超越, 作为宗教的道教与作为哲学的道家之间存在着非常清楚的宗教超越与哲学超越的界线, 而儒家则是哲学的超越, 而非宗教的超越     

科研人员情绪劳动对关系绩效的影响——基于心理解脱的调节作用

在科研工作中关系绩效直接影响到科研成果的产出。文章探讨了科研团队中科研人员情绪劳动与关系绩效的相互作用,并论证了心理解脱这个积极因素在其关系中的作用。验证性因子分析显示,情绪劳动、关系绩效与心理解脱量表具有良好的结构效度;多重回归分析结果表明,科研人员克制自己的负向情绪、表达自己的正向情绪、处理他人负向情绪与人际促进、工作奉献均有显著的正向影响;经历高水平的心理解脱时,这种正面影响会增强,即心理解脱调节科研人员情绪劳动对关系绩效的作用。     

Cross-domain consequences of workplace bullying: A multi-source daily diary study

In this multi-source daily diary study, we examine the effect of exposure to workplace bullying behaviours on family domain outcomes (conflicts at home, relationship satisfaction), and the mediating role that psychological detachment and affective distress play in this relationship. A sample of 68 employees and their spouses filled in a quantitative diary for five consecutive working days twice a day (number of occasions?=?680). Multilevel analyses showed that daily workplace bullying positively predicted both self-report and spouse-report conflicts at home, and daily psychological detachment mediated this relationship. In addition, daily affective distress was the mediator only for self-report conflicts at home. Further, an indirect effect of both affective distress and detachment on the relationship between bullying and self-reported relationship satisfaction was found. Detachment also showed an indirect role in the association between bullying and spouse-reported relationship satisfaction. This is one of the first studies in showing that negative effects of workplace bullying go beyond the work setting and beyond the employee. Moreover, this study adds to an emerging line of research exploring how daily negative work experiences are transferred to and interferes with the non-work domain. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
