从“知识考古”到“美学解救”——论现代“人”的福柯式解构

笛卡尔以来，主体问题始终是现代哲学最为核心的问题。但是，从哲学的语言论转向开始，主体已经声名狼藉，主体哲学的范式被视为陈腐过时了，传统的主体之争已经没有意义，无论语言是第一位，或者自我意识的个体优先，这两个范式中的任何一个都凸现和遮蔽着什么，将这两者联系起来或者寻找一种介于这两种范式之间的思路倒是可能的，如米歇尔福柯之路。     

文学作品的福柯式阅读-以《拾橡子的男孩》为例

时下,学界对福柯的关注主要集中在他的一些颠覆性话语上面,却较少关注作为他思想精髓的认识论和方法论.本文以英国作家R·杰弗里斯的短篇小说<拾橡子的男孩>为例,尝试运用福柯的话语分析方法解读文学作品,力图建立一种新的阅读模式,以期克服文学批评中形而上学的泛滥.     

“Seeing to be seen”: The manager’s political economy of visibility in new ways of working

Recent changes in the world of work have modified the conditions of the exercise of management in ways that challenge managers’ traditional authority and identity, both symbolically and physically. In this context, we analyse the “visibilizing process” of managers, through which they attempt to make themselves more visible, in ways that reaffirm their authority and restore their identity as managers. To that end, we develop a Foucauldian framework on power and visibility, which sheds light on the “political economy of visibility” of the manager. We apply this framework to a case study that encouraged a re-spatialization of remote work in coworking spaces. The findings show how the manager in our case study staged his own visibility, by enhancing managerial control, to manage his invisibility and shape his intertwined identities. Through the visibilizing process, the manager legitimated his role, materialized his function, and restored his authority.     

Was Killing the Queer Author Necessary to Liberate the Queer Text?: The Case of Andy Warhol's A: A Novel

In the decades since Roland Barthes' “The Death of the Author” (1968), Michel Foucault's “What Is an Author?” (1969), and Andy Warhol's novel A (1968), we have become comfortable with the idea that the author is separate from the text. In many ways, however, killing the author was an unnecessary act since critics inherently read their own ideas into texts. Within the span of less than two years, all three texts proposed the removal of the author from the text, all three by prominent gay men in academia and art. The act of removing the author represented a kind of closet protection, separating artist from art, author from text. This aricle examines the convergence of ideas of Barthes and Foucault and how they relate to Warhol's A. In these writers and texts, we see a sexuality eager to burst forth from the page, but one that is hesitant, worried that the sexual politics of the late 1960s are not so liberated as to freely accept homosexuality among the artistic and academic elite. This is the real tragedy in the death of the author, when the identity and spirit of the artist/writer is so denied by the audience that not only is the sexuality lost, but the artist as well.     

Freedom as self-transgression: transformations in the ‘governmentality’ of social work

This article takes as its starting point the growing prominence of what might be called ‘neo-philanthropic’ forms of knowledge in social work during recent years. Inspired by Foucault's concepts of genealogy and governmentality, the article presents an historical analysis including eighteenth century poor policies, philanthropy in the late nineteenth century, welfare planning in the 1960s and the emergence of neo-philanthropic social work from the 1980s onwards. The article argues that the recent rediscovery of concepts and techniques invented by late nineteenth-century philanthropy breaks with traditional welfarist forms of knowledge and practices of social work. As a result, it seems that social work is now to foster new kinds of subjects and create new types of communities. This development indicates that a more profound transformation of the welfare state and its conception of citizenship might be taking place.
