In this paper, the asymptotic property of the probability P(sup_x|f_n(x)?f(x)|>ε) (n→∞) is studied.     

The Japanese multinational

In this article the author examines the four features found in the emerging Japanese multinational enterprises, (1) joint ventures with participation of trading companies, (2) the R & D capabilities, (3) the Japanese style of management, and (4) socio-political reactions in Asian countries. These features provide the Japanese multinational enterprises with both opportunities and challenges for their future development. Proper consideration is given to the comparison with the American multinational enterprises.     

A lower bound for the bayes risk in the sequential case

A lower bound for the Bayes risk in the sequential case is given under the regularity conditions. A related result to the minimax risk is also discussed. Further. some examples are given for the exponential and Poisson distributions.

日本文化没有“固定的本质”,具有异种杂交的特质。古代日本以中国文化为背景创造的日语汉字和假名文字,决定了其异种杂交的本质。明治以来对欧洲哲学思想词汇的翻译,实质上是对中国的汉字的重新组合。把日本语和日本文化还原为“一种本质”是不可能的。企图强调本国文化“本质”的“本质主义的”、“民族主义的”的美学理论和教育,都是注定失败的。

A characterization of natural and double implementation in production economies

We define two types of natural mechanisms, quantity and price-quantity types, in convex production economies, and characterize the class of Pareto subsolutions doubly implementable in Nash and strong Nash equilibria by these mechanisms respectively. First, we show that there is a class of Pareto subsolutions doubly implementable by natural quantity mechanisms, as long as production sets have smooth boundaries. We characterize the class of Pareto subsolutions doubly implementable by natural price-quantity mechanisms without assuming differentiability of utility functions. Third, we show that the Walrasian solution is the unique Pareto and fully individually rational solution naturally and doubly implementable in private ownership economies. Population aging, health care, and growth

This paper constructs a small open two-sector (health care and non-health care) overlapping generations model and investigates how changes in the demand for health care induced by population aging influence the economy’s employment structure and per capita income growth rate. We show that population aging induces a shift in labor from the non-health care sector to the health care sector and lowers the per capita income growth rate. This paper also investigates public policy for child care and demonstrates the existence of an intergenerational conflict between current and future generations concerning public policy on child care.
