An exactly solvable model for two interacting species with stochastic parameters is investigated. The parameter describing the interaction is assumed to be characterized by a dichotomic Markov process. It is remarkable that in contrast to the usual oscillatory behaviour in the deterministic case the expected value of the logarithm of each population size, as a consequence of parametric stochastic perturbations, attains a stable value as time increases. check that in their absence the damping term vanishes, leading to the deterministic model of Gomatam.  相似文献

The stochastic version of the logistic model for population growth is generalized to take account of continuously distributed time delay with an exponentially decaying kernel. The theory of diffusion processes is used to analyse the probability density function of the population size. The explicit expression for the stationary distribution is worked out and the effect of time delay on various statistics is discussed.  相似文献

Self-exciting threshold autoregressive moving average (SETARMA) nonlinear time-series model is considered here. Sufficient conditions for invertibility and stationarity are derived. Parameter estimation algorithm is developed by employing real-coded genetic algorithm stochastic optimization procedure. A significant feature of the work done is that optimal out-of-sample forecasts up to three-step ahead and their forecast error variances are derived analytically. Relevant computer programs are written in statistical analysis system (SAS) and C. As an illustration, annual mackerel catch time-series data are considered. Forecast performance of the fitted model for hold-out data is evaluated by using Naive and Monte Carlo approaches. It is found that optimal out-of-sample forecast values are quite close to actual values and estimated variances are quite close to theoretical values. Superiority of the SETARMA model over the SETAR model for equal predictive ability through Diebold–Mariano test is also established.  相似文献

The promising methodology of the “Statistical Learning Theory” for the estimation of multimodal distribution is thoroughly studied. The “tail” is estimated through Hill's, UH and moment methods. The threshold value is determined by nonparametric bootstrap and the minimum mean square error criterion. Further, the “body” is estimated by the nonparametric structural risk minimization method of the empirical distribution function under the regression set-up. As an illustration, rainfall data for the meteorological subdivision of Orissa, India during the period 1871–2006 are used. It is shown that Hill's method has performed the best for tail density. Finally, the combined estimated “body” and “tail” of the multimodal distribution is shown to capture the multimodality present in the data.  相似文献

We consider the environmental stochasticity of the Gompertz model with time delay when the parameters are assumed to be described by correlated Gaussian white noise processes. The delay kernel is assumed to be exponentially decaying and the Fokker-Planck equation is obtained in both the Stratonovich and Ito calculi. The exact expressions for the first and second order moments of the logarithm of population size are evaluated and the stability of the system in mean as well as In mean-square is discussed.  相似文献

We propose a parametric nonlinear time-series model, namely the Autoregressive-Stochastic volatility with threshold (AR-SVT) model with mean equation for forecasting level and volatility. Methodology for estimation of parameters of this model is developed by first obtaining recursive Kalman filter time-update equation and then employing the unrestricted quasi-maximum likelihood method. Furthermore, optimal one-step and two-step-ahead out-of-sample forecasts formulae along with forecast error variances are derived analytically by recursive use of conditional expectation and variance. As an illustration, volatile all-India monthly spices export during the period January 2006 to January 2012 is considered. Entire data analysis is carried out using EViews and matrix laboratory (MATLAB) software packages. The AR-SVT model is fitted and interval forecasts for 10 hold-out data points are obtained. Superiority of this model for describing and forecasting over other competing models for volatility, namely AR-Generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic, AR-Exponential GARCH, AR-Threshold GARCH, and AR-Stochastic volatility models is shown for the data under consideration. Finally, for the AR-SVT model, optimal out-of-sample forecasts along with forecasts of one-step-ahead variances are obtained.  相似文献

Classical time-series theory assumes values of the response variable to be ‘crisp’ or ‘precise’, which is quite often violated in reality. However, forecasting of such data can be carried out through fuzzy time-series analysis. This article presents an improved method of forecasting based on LR fuzzy sets as membership functions. As an illustration, the methodology is employed for forecasting India's total foodgrain production. For the data under consideration, superiority of proposed method over other competing methods is demonstrated in respect of modelling and forecasting on the basis of mean square error and average relative error criteria. Finally, out-of-sample forecasts are also obtained.  相似文献
