This article examines the dynamics of the income‐distribution pattern in India during the post‐1991 economic reforms. It considers district‐level per‐capita income data across agriculture, manufacturing, services, and various constituent sub‐sectors, and finds evidence in favour of a uniform process of growth across sectors and regions, which has helped to reduce poverty. In particular, the article finds that growth in agricultural income and access to finance are important for this. 相似文献

In this paper, we have reviewed and proposed several interval estimators for estimating the difference of means of two skewed populations. Estimators include the ordinary-t, two versions proposed by Welch [17] and Satterthwaite [15], three versions proposed by Zhou and Dinh [18], Johnson [9], Hall [8], empirical likelihood (EL), bootstrap version of EL, median t proposed by Baklizi and Kibria [2] and bootstrap version of median t. A Monte Carlo simulation study has been conducted to compare the performance of the proposed interval estimators. Some real life health related data have been considered to illustrate the application of the paper. Based on our findings, some possible good interval estimators for estimating the mean difference of two populations have been recommended for the researchers. 相似文献

Several researchers considered various interval estimators for estimating the population coefficient of variation (CV) of symmetric and skewed distributions. Since they considered at different times and under different simulation conditions, their performances are not comparable as a whole. In this article, an attempt has been made to review some existing estimators along with some proposed methods and compare them under the same simulation condition. In particular, we have considered Hendricks and Robey, Mckay, Miller, Sharma and Krishna, Curto and Pinto, and also some bootstrap proposed interval estimators for estimating the population CV. A simulation study has been conducted to compare the performance of the estimators. Both average widths and coverage probabilities are considered as a criterion of the good estimators. Two real life health related data sets are analyzed to illustrate the findings of the article. Based on the simulation study, some possible good interval estimators have been recommended for the practitioners. 相似文献

The one-round discrete Voronoi game, with respect to a n-point user set $\mathcal {U}$ , consists of two players Player 1 (P1) and Player 2 (P2). At first, P1 chooses a set $\mathcal{F}_{1}$ of m facilities following which P2 chooses another set $\mathcal{F}_{2}$ of m facilities, disjoint from $\mathcal{F}_{1}$ , where m(=O(1)) is a positive constant. The payoff of P2 is defined as the cardinality of the set of points in $\mathcal{U}$ which are closer to a facility in $\mathcal{F}_{2}$ than to every facility in $\mathcal{F}_{1}$ , and the payoff of P1 is the difference between the number of users in $\mathcal{U}$ and the payoff of P2. The objective of both the players in the game is to maximize their respective payoffs. In this paper, we address the case where the points in $\mathcal{U}$ are located along a line. We show that if the sorted order of the points in $\mathcal{U}$ along the line is known, then the optimal strategy of P2, given any placement of facilities by P1, can be computed in O(n) time. We then prove that for m≥2 the optimal strategy of P1 in the one-round discrete Voronoi game, with the users on a line, can be computed in $O(n^{m-\lambda_{m}})$ time, where 0<λ m <1, is a constant depending only on m. 相似文献

An Eye Tracking Investigation of Color–Location Binding in Infants' Visual Short‐Term Memory 下载免费PDF全文
Two experiments examined 8‐ and 10‐month‐old infants' (N = 71) binding of object identity (color) and location information in visual short‐term memory (VSTM) using a one‐shot change detection task. Building on previous work using the simultaneous streams change detection task, we confirmed that 8‐ and 10‐month‐old infants are sensitive to changes in binding between identity and location in VSTM. Further, we demonstrated that infants recognize specifically what changed in these events. Thus, infants' VSTM for binding is robust and can be observed in different procedures and with different stimuli. 相似文献

We consider an infinite-buffer single server queue with batch Markovian arrival process (BMAP) and exhaustive service discipline under multiple working vacation policy. The service time during a working vacation is generally distributed random variable which is independent of the service times during a normal busy period as well as the arrival process. Duration of service times during a normal busy period and duration of working vacation times follow the class of distributions whose Laplace-Stieltjes transforms are rational functions (R-type distributions). The service time during a normal busy period, working vacation time, and the service time during a working vacation are independent of each other as well as of the arrival process. If a working vacation terminates while service is going on for a customer at head of the queue in vacation mode then, the server switches to normal mode and the customer at head of the queue is entitled to receive a full service time in the normal busy period irrespective of the amount of service received by the customer at head of the queue during the previous working vacation period. We obtain system-length distributions at various epoch, such as post-departure, pre-arrival, arbitrary, and pre-service. The proposed analysis is based on the use of matrix-analytic procedure to obtain system-length distribution at post-departure epoch. Later, we use supplementary variable technique and simple algebraic manipulations to obtain system-length distribution at arbitrary epoch using the system-length distribution at post-departure epoch. Some important performance measures, such as mean system lengths and mean waiting time have been obtained. Finally, some numerical results have been presented in the form of tables and graphs to show the applicability of the results obtained in this article. The model has potential application in areas of computer and communication networks, such as ethernet passive optical network (EPON). 相似文献

In-depth interviews were conducted with 13 young fathers to identify factors supporting their paternal involvement. Participants' responses to their interviews revealed that the qualitative experience was meaningful and encouraged their paternal involvement through (1) self-disclosure, (2) the opportunity to help others, and (3) personal engagement with the interviewer. Prior work has noted the general benefits of interviews for interviewees. This study addresses the less-explored, specific benefits of qualitative interviews for young fathers, along with recommendations, which include (1) conducting research that utilizes the qualitative interview as a therapeutic opportunity for young-father participants, (2) exploring fathers' behaviors in qualitative interviews as an untapped resource for engagement, and (3) conducting participatory action and mixed methodologies with young fathers. 相似文献
