英语及物性短语动词的认知语义研究：以V＋up 短语动词为例

文章以意象图式和概念隐喻理论为基础，对含up的英语及物性短语动词进行认知语义分析，发现小品词up既包含空间意义也包含隐喻意义，并且小品词和动词对于短语动词的语义构成都极其重要。研究表明，“V＋up”通常表示一个力作用于一个实体，使之发生位置、数量、状态的改变，因此语义上表现为致使意义。这种语义致使结构可由空间域通过隐喻拓展至心理域和社会域。文章从认知语义的视角对英语及物性短语动词的语义机制进行了全新的阐释。

A Cognitive Semantic Study of Transitive Phrasal Verbs with Up

Based on image schema theory and conceptual metaphor theory, this paper analyzes the cognitive semantics of phras-al verbs. It claims that the particle up has both spatial and metaphorical meanings, and that the meanings of the verb and of the particle are essential to phrasal verbs. It is shown that“V+up” generally means that a force acts upon an entity and forces the latter to change in terms of location, quantity, shape and state. Semantically, this structure expresses causative meaning, which is realized by mapping the spatial domain onto mental and social domains. This paper provides a new explanation of tran-sitive phrasal verbs from the cognitive perspective.
