The Integration of Person and Family Strengths: A Social Work Intervening Model for Single-Parent Families

When serving for single - parent families, social work faces the three major problems： low level of pro- fessional recognition; lack of available public resources; difficulty of balancing the building of a person and fami- ly. According to the strengths perceptive and through the tutorial lessons with the single -parent families, a strengths- based social work practice is successfully exercised. The new model advocates refocusing, positive concerns, prompt establishment of trustful symbiosis, and cycle strategies used to dig the potential, etc, which have flexibly solved the mentioned problems, accelerated the integration of the individual/family strengths, effec- tively responded to the difficulties in social work practice with the single -parent tamilies.
