哈林顿《大洋国》的理论价值与现实意义

17世纪英国资产阶级革命时期重要的政治思想家哈林顿的代表作《大洋国》在西方政治思想发展史上的地位和影响力早就被许多西方学者所肯定,特别是随着20世纪80年代以来自由主义、社群主义与共和主义三方论争的展开,哈林顿在《大洋国》中表现出的自由主义的共和主义倾向备受关注。但我国政治学界对哈林顿及其《大洋国》的理论价值不甚重视,缺乏研究。如何客观评价哈林顿政治思想的历史地位以及如何吸收借鉴其政治思想的合理成分,应该成为我国政治学界关注的问题。哈林顿借助《大洋国》表达其反对专制建立共和国的理想,在当时具有革命性和进步性意义;善于批判吸收则使哈林顿的《大洋国》呈现出近代共和主义的价值取向;而哈林顿在《大洋国》所触及的个人自由问题也已成为近现代政治哲学家反复讨论的论题。
