朱生豪的译事活动与译学见解

伟大翻译家朱生豪出生于浙江嘉兴鸳鸯湖畔。之江大学的四年以及随后的编辑生涯,为朱生豪打下了扎实的英文功底,同时使他具备了深厚的中国古典文学修养和古典诗词创作才能,这为他翻译莎剧奠定了基础。从1935年开始准备译莎到1944年逝世为止,他共译出莎士比亚悲剧、喜剧、杂剧与历史剧31部半,给中国莎学史和中国翻译史留下宝贵的精神财富。朱生豪长于译笔,但也不乏译论。他具有伟大的爱国翻译思想,严肃认真的翻译态度。他的译文自然流畅,这与他采用再现原作神韵和神采的翻译策略密不可分。

Zhu Shenghao's Translation Activities and Thoughts

Zhu Shenghao,the great translator of contemporary China,was born in a family by Mandarin Duck Lake of Jiaxing,Zhejiang Province.The four years of study in Zhijiang University and his editor career laid solid foundation for his English proficiency and his cultivation in ancient Chinese literature.This is the prerequisite of his translation of Shakespeare＇s plays.From 1935 to 1944,he translated thirty-one and half of Shakespeare＇s plays including tragedies,comedies,histories and others,which are the great treasures in the Shakespeare study and the translation history of China.Zhu was not only adept in translation practice,but also left us great translation thoughts.His translation thoughts are patriotic in nature;his translation attitudes are strict and careful;his style is natural and fluent which is due to his employ of the strategy of recreating the original spirit in target language.
