A Review of Schools of Cultural Anthropology in Respect to Their Notions of Culture

Cultural anthropology is one of the major sub-fields of modern anthropology. It deals with, as its theoretical goal, the classification of different societies and cultures, and the determination of stages and processes of cultural evolution. Ever since its beginning, there have developed a number of schools in the discipline on the notions of culture. Examining these schools in a comparative way may help develop a rather full and deep understanding of culture in theoretical perspective. This article chronologically presents a general review on the schools of anthropology, focusing on their ideas of culture.
