中国古代的“国号”与历史上的“中国”

中国古代以国号为代表的政权与＂中国＂不是一个概念,中国古代的国号只代表某一个政权,而＂中国＂的涵义则有很多,主要的并非是一个政权的名称,即使用来指称政权,也常常不指一个政权,或指同时并立的几个政权,或指历史上以中原地区为主且有相互递嬗关系的多个政权。经过元朝和清朝的转换,到中华民国定国号为中国,＂中国＂与＂国号＂最终实现了统一。古代历史上任何一个以国号为代表的政权（元朝和清朝除外）都不能等同于历史上的＂中国＂,历史上中国的疆域也不是以国号为代表的某个政权的疆域,而是包含了为中国所继承的当时以国号为代表的各个政权所控制的疆域。

The Difference between "the Title of Reigning Dynasty" in Ancient China and the Noun of "China" in History

The regine represented by the title of reigning dynasty has different denotation compared with ＂China＂.The title of reigning dynasty only represents one regime in ancient China,however,＂China＂ has more widely meanings,mostly not as the denomination of a regime,even indicating the regime,usually not representing one regime,but representing several concomitant regimes,or representing the regimes that have the relationship of devolution mainly in the Central Plains.After the conversion between Yuan dynasty Qing dynasty,＂China＂ and ＂the title of reigning dynasty ＂have the consistency on meaning until the title of republic of China is defined as ＂China＂. Therefore,any regime represented by the title of reigning dynasty （except Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty） is not the same as ＂China＂ in history. In fact, the geographic territory of China is not the territory represented by any regime in history, but includes the territories controlled by all the regimes succeeded by China and represented by the titles of reigning dynasty.
