Analysis of the Reasons of the Cease of the First Trend of Western Learning's Progression in China

This paper takes a close look at the documents concerned with western learning in the com-plete collections of Four Treasures (Si Ku Quan Shu),discusses how the first trend of western learning's progression into china has influenced the mainstream and authoritative thoughts in Qing and Ming dynas-ties,and illustrates how this trend has played a disintegrating role in the traditional social order of China.In the meanwhile,the writer analyzes both the superficial and deep reasons of the cease of the first trend of western learning's progression into China by clarifying the cultural and psychological reasons underlying western learning's origination from China .
