Mandarin and Dialects: The Future of Modern Chinese Language

As the common language for the Han nationality,Mandarin has been comprehensively accommodating itself to the social development of China,Chinese standardization is also recognized by the international community,and countries worldwide are attaching great importance to Chinese internationalization.In the surge of popularizing Mandarin,will the Chinese dialects die out? And will the internationalization of Chinese be of a reality or ideal? Focusing on these hot debates,this paper advocates its own viewpoints based on the following: firstly,analyzing the merits of the existence of Chinese dialects exemplified by Fujian-Taiwan historical succession;secondly,reasoning the dialects existence through the interdependence between dialects and common language;thirdly,inferring that Mandarin will be internationalized continually as a result of the practical social development.
