Alcohol Consumption and Divorce: |
| |
Abstract: | Does divorce lead to alcohol consumption, does alcohol consumption lead to divorce, or both? The techniques used in the many micro-level studies of the relationship between alcohol consumption and divorce are unable to offer an answer to this question. The technique of Granger causality does permit a qualified answer. Applying this technique to U.S. data for 1933-84 indicates unidirectional causation from divorce to alcohol. |
