孟、荀的人格美理论和审美追求

摘    要:孟、荀的美学理论以实践理性为基础。孟子把人的自然属性定性为善 ,荀子把人的生理欲求定性为恶 ,而对作为审美理想的人格美的追求却是殊途同归。孟、荀的人格美理论力图从反思人的本质来揭示美的内涵和道德美的必要性及其价值取向 ,把道德实践、审美和人生理想统一起来 ,对先秦的审美意识和中国的艺术精神均产生深远的影响。

Abstract:Meng and Xun's aesthetic theory is based on the practical rationalism. Mencius thought of human nature as good, and Xuncius considered human physiologic desire as evil. However, they had the same idea in pursuit of personality beauty which they took it as aesthetic ideal. Both of them tried to show the meaning of beauty and the necessity and value tropism of moral beauty, unifying moral practice, aesthetic and human ideals, which exerted deep influences on the aesthetic consciousness of Pre-Qin Dynasty and the Chinese art spirit later on.
