外语隐喻能力培养新探

摘    要:认知理论下关于学习者外语隐喻能力的培养忽略了语言学习本身的作用。其实目的语隐喻能力应是以语言为基础的隐喻思维能力与特定隐喻思维方式的统一,外语语言学习本应就是隐喻能力发展的过程。外语语言学习潜移默化地影响隐喻能力的发展,隐喻概念结构得以扩展,语言形式的学习又使学习者经历目的语特定隐喻思维方式,从而形成相应隐喻思维习惯。应充分利用语言学习过程培养、发展学习者的目的语隐喻能力。

Abstract:The concept of Metaphorical Competence(MC)put forward by cognitive linguists has enriched second language(SL) teaching and learning perspective.However,attention to the development of MC in SL has been focused on the study of metaphorical conceptual structures.Not much stress has been received concerning the role of language learning.Starting from a distinction between MC and MC in SL,the author ventures to suggest that MC in SL is a language-based combination of metaphorical thinking ability and particular metaphorical thinking mode.From the perspective of the influence language has on thoughts,the author argues that foreign language learning itself is a process of MC development.Language learning process serves to(1) stimulate and expand learner's metaphorical conceptual structures;(2) develop learner's particular metaphorical thinking modes through the grasp of metaphorical linguistic patterns.In conclusion,the author stresses that much should be made out of the process of language learning to develop learner's MC.
