必仁且智

“仁”和“智”是道德、理智的人待人处事、正当合理地处理人际关系和天人关系所应有的品质和能力。当今人类正面临着一种严峻的关系危机,它表现为人与人之间的关系和人与自然界之间的关系的极度紧张和严重冲突,本来是属于“人的关系”的关系,表现出脱离人的异己性。为了缓解当前的关系危机,使人与人、人与自然界的关系能够真正成为“人的关系”,并走上和谐发展的道路,“莫近于仁,莫急于智”,仍然是当今时代所要求于人们的。

On the Necessity of Being Both Benevolent and Intelligent

Benevolence and intelligence are the characters and abilities that moral and sensible people should have in orderto get along well with other people and appropriately deal with interpersonal relationship and the relationship between nature and human beings. Nowadays we are facing a serious relationship crisis represented in extreme tension and grim conflicts in interpersonal relationship and relationship between human beiugs and nature. The human relationship turns out to be inhuman,separated from people. In order to alleviate the relationship crisis,make the relationship really human and develop harmoniously, we should be both benevolent and intelligent. This is what our times requires of all of us.
