中东铁路、十月革命与哈尔滨工业大学的诞生

哈尔滨工业大学诞生于1920年的哈尔滨，具有深刻的社会文化背景和时代动因。随着中东铁路的修建，哈尔滨在20世纪初崛起，成为一座拥有“中俄合璧”的城市文化环境的国际大都会，这为哈尔滨工业大学的诞生和发展提供了强大的空间支撑。1917年俄国十月革命，对以哈尔滨为中心的中东铁路附属地造成极大的冲击，使得中东铁路附属地与俄国国内的联系中断，并导致中东铁路附属地出现了严重的工程技术人才缺口。大批俄国侨民涌入中东铁路附属地，他们的子女迫切需要高等教育。在中东铁路管理局的主导下，哈尔滨工业大学应运而生，并迅速崛起。

Russian October Revolution in 1917 brought about very big impingement to Chinese Eastern Railroad Areas mainly in Harbin, which broke off the connection between the Railroad Areas and Russia local territory, and made the Railroad Areas in grave deficient of talented people in engineering and technology. A lot of Russia immigrants rushed into Chinese Eastern Railroad Areas,their children needed higher education urgently, Under the leadership of Chinese Eastern Railroad Administrative Bureau, Harbin Institute of Technology came into being at the historic moment,and emerged rapidly.
