As the first collection of classical Chinese fiction, Taipingguangji has high literature value by saving a lot of novel quintessence before Song Dynasty, which also promote the creation of contemporary and later novels as well as the compilation of short stories. Secondly, it has great inspiration to the development of all kinds of classical Chinese and vernacular novels by its collection arrangement which sorted novels by fiction themes. Thirdly, it was recognized as a classical fiction anthology, which reflect people’s understanding of fiction of that time, and laid the pattern of classical Chinese novel thereafter.
