The Creation of Surrealist Poets Xu Zhenhua and Wang Shuyan

In 1920s, surrealist movement brought the poetic revolution in the French literary circles. Surrealist artists raised strong doubts about language and human thinking mode, which had been dominated by logic and rationality for thousands of years. They maintained that new space for the creation of poetry should be sought beyond the domain demarcated by logic and rationality. As a result, automatic writing and dreamland narration came into being. Poets relied heavily upon subconsciousness, resorted to immediate language unanalyzed, held in high esteem the real self of the natural imagery reflected in dreams, all of which constitute the basis for the new methods of creating surrealist poems.
