从“目的论”的角度分析杨译与霍译对《红楼梦》习语的异化与归化处理

对《红楼梦》中习语的翻译,杨宪益先生基本上采取了＂异化＂手段来解决语言中的文化因素,即在译文中尽可能地体现译出语文化内涵;而霍克斯先生为了避免中英不同文化的冲撞和译入语读者的误解,采用了＂归化＂的手段。异译和归译是翻译过程中的两种＂方法＂,不存在哪种译法＂好＂或＂不好＂的问题,只要译文通顺、易懂,最大程度上实现了＂合适性＂原则即可。

An Analysis of Foreighnization and Domestication Strategy for the Idioms Translation in Hong Lou Meng by Yang Shien-yi and David Hawkes from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

In translating the idioms in ＂Hong Lou Meng＂, Yang Shien - yi mainly adopts the foreighnization strategy to maintain the source language＂ cultural elements, while David Hawkes adopts the domestication to avoid the cultural conflicts and the possible misunderstandings among the target language readers. Foreighnization and Domestication are complementary to each other rather than contradictory. It would be a good translation as long as the translation is fluent, easy to understand, and achieves ＂appropriateness＂ principle to greatest degree.
