| Abstract: | This paper is a descriptive analysis of the job of game warden. Using data from interviews with 31 game wardens, the author describes the interactions of game wardens with other wardens and poachers. Two types of game wardens were constructed on the basis of this data: “bookers” and “peacemakers.” The literature on the official behavior of law enforcement officers is reviewed. Extensive quotes from interviews with game wardens are presented. |
