“进化的”与“民族的”——《小说月报》(1920-1923)的文学翻译

在主编《小说月报》期间,沈雁冰大力主张译介域外文学以建设新文学.一方面,他将此举的合法性建立在进化论的基础上,怀着世界大同的理想将新文学建设纳入世界文学进化的链条中；另一方面,他的译介思路又体现出弱势文化情境中民族文学建设者试图迅速融入现代世界的焦虑与功利心理.两者之间的矛盾体现在编者对译作的选择上,也使新文学翻译与清末民初文学翻译呈现出本质区别.

"Evolutional" and "National"——Literature Translation in The Short Story Magazine

When editing The Short Story Magazine,SHEN Yan-bing strongly advocated building new literature by literature translation.He based the legitimacy of such act on evolution,and hoped,with the ideal of the world community,to bring Chinese new literature into the chain of world literature evolution,on the one hand;on the other hand,his translation notion embodied anxious and utilitarian psychology that the builders of national literature in a weak cultural circumstances tried to enter modern world.Such contradiction was represented in editor’s selection of target foreign literature works,which is also the essential watershed between new literature translation and the literature translation during the period from late Qing dynasty to early Republic of China.
