Predicament and pursuit --"Evil Women" in Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty reflecting mentality of the dramatists

There existed many evil women in Zaju in Yuan Dynasty that had symbolic meanings because of their routinizations. The main reason that the images of the evil women appeared in dramas was that it was necessary for the dramatists fallen into reality predicament to reflect their spirit sufferings produced by the social disorder and the fall of their social value. It also displayed the weakened mentality produced by the fall of the social status of the dramatists and their illusory ideal.
