The Application of Lines in the Oriental and Occidental Drawings

Lines, very extensively applied in the Oriental and Occidental drawings, is the artistic expression in both the ancient and the modern times. Both the Oriental and Occidental painters pay great attention to the mould\|making by lines. It may be said that Chinese painters' application of lines has reached the ultimate level and developed a school of their own in the representation of the East. The most striking expressions lie in line drawing, line engraving and hand\|writing.
