Globalization and the conflict of democratic politics

Globalization makes the free mobility of population an irresistible trend. The right to move freely and choose residence is one of the basic human rights recognized and guaranteed by international law. A participation into the decision-making processes concerned with its own interests should be an inherent democratic right enjoyed by immigrants, and the innate demand of democratic politics. However, the framework of the modern democratic theories and systems fails to embrace the democratic demands of immigrants, because democracy, in the form of that of democracy with citizenry as a participating entity, is inherently exclusive. Globalization and the current democratic theories and democratic politics have fundamental conflicts.
