This is the most fundamental difference between the two.In the process of progressing towards a modern and future society, reformation must be made to traditional Chinese culture that places great emphasis on patriachal clan system and human relationships and despises individualism. The western cultures and their literature have much experience for the reformation to draw from. The New Cultural Movement and the New Literary Movement in Chinese history can well evidemce the necessity and great significance. In the 21st century China still needs to fight against feudalism and to continue the cultural reformation. The western literature is still an important source of experience that the reformation can draw from.
